Not a great day for me in the NFL yesterday. Recouped some loss last night with the SNF Over, but got burned on the NE ML. What was interesting is that my book had NE at +1.5 and also was offering a ML @ +105, which they rarely do with a +1.5 line. I thought to myself it seemed odd, but I was too busy to think any deeper than that. Not saying someone knew something, but I'm sure many people pushed the +1.5 aside to grab the +105 (myself included) and the house wins again .... Ha
On to tonight and i'll start with the line on this game off, so proceed with caution if you're playing the side. Check out the Browns home/home equivalent lines vs their top 5 opponents this year.
+ 4 vs Minnesota
+7.5 vs Baltimore (earlier meeting)
+6 vs Cincinnati
+8 vs Pittsburgh
+9.5 vs Green Bay
Tonight's game opened with Cleveland +10, which already is the highest line Cleveland has seen all year at home or as home equivalent. And because the public loves betting favorites, it's now been pushed up to 11 even though Baltimore is probably the 5th best team on the above list. Something to ponder ...
Baltimore can't be too happy losing to Cincy last week and having lost 4 of 5 find themselves in desperate need of a victory. Ravens have too much experience to take he Browns lightly, so their should be some amped up guys on the defensive side of the ball for Baltimore. Brady Quinn is back at the helm, and this won't mean much, but he has to be a better option than Derek Anderson who was just brutal. Anderson has managed 3 offensive touchdowns in the Browns last 28 quarters. One of the issues is that the Browns have no offensive weapons since the loss of Braylon Edwards. They have 3rd and 4th wideouts playing the #1 and #2 slots, an aging RB and a 3rd string RB on most other teams sharing carries. I think Quinn will be stable, but he won't get much on the Ravens mostly because he doesn't have much to work with. If the Browns wan't to give their young QB a chance to win, they will need to do it with defense. And that's not easy, but I think off the bye the Browns will be prepared with their run defense and force Flacco to beat them. Don't think we see many big plays tonight and the winner is decided between the uprights though I think each team finds the endzone ... 19-13 final
Baltimore Ravens / Cleveland Browns UNDER 39.5 (9 units to win 8.1)
