San Diego's offer is for less money than the $24 million Tomlinson is due to make by 2011, and terms of the restructuring are not known. He is scheduled to earn $6.725 million for the coming season, with a salary-cap number of $8.791 million. If a deal ultimately is not worked out, the team could release him.
this actually does not surprise me much. could spice FA up though.

They should release him and Sproles should get the starting job. At this point in both of their careers I think Sproles is the better back between the two.

My opinion is that the Chargers should have let him go and moved on. They haven't been successful in the LT era anyway and now he's old and gets injured every year. Let Rivers be the leader of the team.
Some teams just can't let go of the past. Running Backs age quicker than about every position in the NFL. LT is washed up.

2006-2007: Division champs. Lost divisional playoff to NE...no crime
2007-2008: Division champs. Lost in a competitive conference championship game to NE with Rivers having a torn ACL.
2008-2009: Division champs. Lost in divisional playoff to eventual Super Bowl champs.
Yup, they haven't had any success with LT. You're a dumbass hound.
Everybody has their own definition of success. Apparently yours doesn't include winning the Super Bowl. Trust me, as a Packer fan I know all about making the playoffs and then getting bounced after 1 or 2 games and not making the Super Bowl. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth after awhile.
If you think making the playoffs is success than good for you Hutch.
BTW, those division championships the last 3 years were won playing in one of the worst divisions in the NFL. You ever hear of the Raiders and the Chiefs?
If the Chargers had won at least one Super Bowl during LT's time there than I might have a different opinion about their "success".
And now the guy is just getting old and fragile. Like I said, I would have moved on.
Big money for old and beatup players is usually not a wise move.

Yea, SamuelSosa we need to give HutchemAll a break on this one though. He's a Viking fan so he doesn't know anything about what "success" actually means. The Vikings have never had any.
