Sorry veeman but Don Juan had it right all along. The crying at the presser and now he gets his release. What a terrible position to put the Packers in. Disingenious(Spell check) to say the least.

You guys don't get it, do you? It's the uniform that is sacred, not the player. As far as I'm concerned, the Green Bay Packers have complete control of this situation. What Brett does now post-retirement is up to him. But he is under contract for two years with GB. And, he must petition the NFL Office for reinstatement, and when he does, he returns as property of the Green Bay Packers.
I think a trade is remote, possibly they could craft one out of the NFC, into the AFC. But it would not stand to an NFC team, and certainly not the the NFC Central. And I am sure they will consider that if Brett presses forward. And, GB brass will also consider the risj on any trade, that once completed, the team could turn around and trade him to the Bears, Vikings or Detroit. All of those schlubs could use him. That is something that would not sit well in cheese-ville.
Other than that, he could come back and compete for the job. Why not?, he is 38 and obviously sitting around Kiln, MS on the John Deere tractor and sitting on the porch with Deanna has made the old boy a little delirious, not disengenuous. Put that in your spell checker and smoke it.
Clepto, my friend, please do not put my name in reference to don juan in the same sentence, thanks.
And, my friend, let's count the hockey guys, the baseball guys, the football guys, the race car drivers, the boxers, and yes, the golfers who just can't hang it up. Why is everyone so surprised at this? Obviously, they don't have the heart of champion, and this guy #4 does.
If he is on the bench, and Rogers is driving the team against the Cowboys on September 21st during Sunday Night Football, and he gets picked off for a quick six, and I see Fat Tuna smiling and Jessica up in the box smiling, I'm gonna' put my beer down, stand up and start yelling the "We want Brett" chant. And then again, it might him starting and it might him throwing the pick, then what do I do? I'll do what I did during that telling 3rd and 4th quarter last January at the NFC Championship Game, "Put in Rodgers!".
GL everybody, let Brett be Brett and let one of the greatest franchises in American sports history work this out.

Clepto, My friend. You hit the nail right on the head. Thank You...
It's a shame that one fan here seems to represent all Pack fans. I hope not. Maybe it's because he has his nose in a dark area.
To say " the uniform is sacred," LOL. and " Green Bay Packer have complete control of this situation" Lol, is utterly ridiculous. Yeah Veeman, we get it, but you obviously do NOT.
I now know that you know absolutely nothing about football. You belong on a fan based web site and you need to subscribe to PEOPLE magazine where they Ouu and Ahh over celebrities, not here on a wagering site.
Furthermore, to say that "he could come back and complete the job" is a slap in the face to all loyal Packer fans after he just stuck it their back, not only is it presumptuous, it's ignorant, at this point.
So Mr, Veeman, If you do not mention my name, I will not utter yours. You just opened this can of worms. So shut-up about me!
Clepto, my biggest fear is that Tampa Bay makes a deal for that Egotistical maniac.

I'm not playing favourites but I remembered the argument between you both. Since I have great respect for each of you I just thought I would put my stamp on an argument DJ clearly wins with recent developments. Favre wanted to return but not with the Pack so he retired and pulled this knowing full well the cap hit would force GB's hand. IMHO!

Thanks again Clepto. I mean after 3 years of stringing Fans along, Enough is Enough. Especially exceptionally loyal Pack fans, it's just isn't right. Not only that, I'm tired of hearing about him every time I tune in to football news.

Another misquote (again) in a long line of fabrications and hallucinations from poster #5. Btw, there are courses available to help on remedial reading and comprehension.
The line was "he [Farve] could compete for the job", not "he could complete the job". Slight difference. Football is all about competition, between the players on the team (regarding winning a starting position and regarding squads like defense against offense and return teams against kickoff teams). Then, when the season starts, it is between the team against their opponents - but then again, what do I know about sports?
clepto - no problem, this is what forum sites are for, at least you are lucid and above all else, we are hockey brothers and that supercedes any petty bs.
mpcronin - for any newbies reading this, mp2 was here a week before I was back in '00. He knows his stuff and thank you, sir, for pointing out the difference in the par secs between poster #5 and myself. #5 always seems to have to make his attacks personal, i.e "dark area", please, show some class.
And, I want to thank clepto for "stirring the pot". Reading it again before the sun-up tee time this morning has surely added another 10 yards to my drives.
GL everybody and I mean that.

mpcroni. I don't know where you have been but I have posted the last 8 Super bowl winners against the spread right, here on Wagerline, actually 9 in a row, ( one before ). To me, that is the ultimate in football handicapping. ( There are several posters still around who will verify that fact for me, if you wish.) Now, I know for a fact that Veeman has posted the opposite losers for the last 3 years. Not to mention the differences of opinion we have had between his Big Ten and the SEC. So don't tell me that I'm not in the same league with THAT guy.
Incidentally, are you his drinking buddy or something ? All I have said is, Favre is killing the loyal Packer Fans. What is your problem ? Do you have an ax to grind here, my friend ?

clepto, you are absolutely right...
#4 IS A D-BAG!
knew it his senior season at so. miss in his final game, a bowl game, with the clock running out and so. miss needing a touchdown for ME to cover, #4 had first and goal at the seven where he proceeded to throw 4 uncatchable incompletions. it was at that very moment that i knew #4 was a D-BAG!

for the few years I have been on this site, I have always looked for veeman's posts. When he has the time he provides information to back up his plays. Those are the kind of posts that we need here. You can dissect the information provided and agree or disagree accordingly. Additionally, his picks are more good than bad. The only knock I have ever had is that he is a little bleary eyed when assissing the pack and Brett Farve's ability. Yes, he had a phenomenal career and brought a title back to Green Bay. That is huge. Over the last 5 years however, I have watched a different movie.
The problem on here is egomanics like Don Juan that, when they disagree with an opinion, they attack people personally and start namecalling like a second grader - something that veeman is way above. DJ, yes, you have successfully picked SB winners for many years. Keep it up, please. But aren't you one of the delusional Raider fans that come on here every year saying 'this is our year" - when in fact it is obvious to everyone else that the Raiders are non-competitive. I may be wrong on that, so if I am I apologize.
that's all i got. Everyone keep up the POSITIVE, HELPFUL posts, and remember, only a couple more weeks!!!!!

Pitt94.. You have the wrong egomaniac, it's Brett Favre you must mean. And name calling? Scroll back and see if you can see where I called anyone a name, NONE. While your at it, see if you can find who started this..
He did when he said " do not put my name in reference to Don Juan in the same sentence " In reply to Clepto's post when he simply stated, in very nice manner, Don Juan had it right all along.
He was crushed when someone actually told him he lost this debate.
Now, who is the egomaniac?
Pitt94, you have the wrong guy, young man. I am NO Raider fan, have never been and never posted such talk. So please, get your facts straight before YOU start name calling me an egomaniac.

Gentlemen, it's two cents time:
I understand that Mr. Thompson has been jerked around by Mr. Favre for the past several seasons, with the I might be done, wait maybe one more season thing. However, this team has a better chance to go all the way this year than last. Christ they fell short by 3 friggen points last year in probably one of the best playoff games I have ever seen.
I'll let Jason Whitlock take it the rest of the way:
"You cannot possibly believe Aaron Rodgers gives the Packers a better chance at winning in 2008 than Brett Favre.
Brett threw for 4,155 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He completed a career-high 66.5 percent of his passes and averaged a career-high 7.8 yards per attempt.
He led the Pack to the NFC Championship. He was as good as he's ever been in his career, and the continued maturation of Greg Jennings and the addition of rookie Jordy Nelson are only going to make him even more effective.
Favre never missed a game — even when his father passed away.
I know, I know playing through pain, injury and grief for 16 years doesn't compensate for the fact that Favre acts like a spoiled baby when you refuse to acquire a quarterback's best friend, Randy Moss. And I know it's really tough on the franchise when Favre's aching, middle-aged body and mood swings tell him to retire in March and play in July." ~ Jason Whitlock.
At the end of the day it is all about winning and Thompson has to be mildly retarded if he thinks Rogers gives his team a better shot.
Thompson has to moves: 1) Take him back and start him and have a great season. 2) Waive him, let him go to another team and pray to God he doesn't come back and burn you. There is a 3rd move which I think is gutless and disgusting; Thompson could handcuff him and never let him play again.
I am not a Favre fan by any means, but the guy is an icon and gives 110% every game, every year and he deserves better.

Ted Thompson is an a-hole. He sent a clear message to #4 the day in got to GB. He let go the starting OG's right off the bat hoping the Bear DL that year would kill Brett. They almost did. Besides last year, the whole message under Thompson has been this is his team, not Bretts. They have gone youth movement and don't want an egomaniac old QB that sucks in the playoffs anymore. But, instead of trading #4 Ted wants to protect his ego by forcing Brett to stay retired with the backup QB only option. It's just 2 HUGE ego's going toe to toe....which is VERY ugly when fought in public. Ted NEVER wanted Brett, but had to pretend because of the fan love for 4.
