I read a lot of happy lefties already chalking this one up as a W.

How?

Go find a single McCain voter that will not vote for Romney.

Will the youngsters turn out again and with the same enthusiaism? Doubtful, no job and a ton of debt does not an obamabot create.

Will minority turn out be higher or lower? I'm guessing lower - had things improved - they have not - he might have seen similar numbers, but 4 years later, sitting on your porch guzzling wine gets you exactly what it got you then.

How about the asshats that wanted to say they were a part of history? Been there. Done that. Got the Hope/Change T-shirt.

How does he win?

Where do the votes come from?

Well as you know this election is decided in 3-4 swing states and Obama are doing pretty well in some of those. In particular the midt west where he saved the auto industry and Romney wanted to let the companies go into bankruptcy.

I wonder how all those kids donating their much of their paychecks after working all those long summer hours back in 2008 feel just about now.

Now saying Mitt is the answer, but it's another case of the lesser of two evils again. Very deflating.

A Few Points

1) If you voted for McCain in 08 you are voting for Romey in Nov.

2) Some of Obama's voters in 08 will vote for Romney in Nov.

3) enthusiasm among young voters will go down. How much? We
 won't know until Nov.

4) enthusiasm among blacks will not be as high as it was in 08.
How much? We won't know until Nov.

5) The vote to reelect an African American for President isn't as
historical as electing one for the first time so enthusiasm will
 be down there.

6) The main point, which has to do with the Electoral College: If
McCain won the state in 08 Romney will win it in Nov. There
are some states right now that Obama carried in 08 that are
either even or within the margin of error.

If Americans were smart enough to understand this they wouldn't have blamed Bush so harshly.

Amazing how Democrats are getting the votes they get based on this.

*Interesting that Senator Obama opted to vote 'Present' AGAIN on this. Did he ever vote on controversial legislation, up or down?

The 6 of you are living in a dream world... The women vote rules these days, and they are the majority of voters.. They do not like Twit Robney at all.  Mormons ! You know what I mean ?

The senior voters will not want to go back to the Bush days when their 401k's dropped in half.

Blacks love what Obama has done so far.

Young people like being on their parents health insurance until 26 years old. Etc.

don,

Since when was Mikael anything right leaning?

Other than on the immigration issue, he is as liberal as they come. Well aside from you, of course.

Obama sucks, we all know that.  Whats funny thou is how many right wingers actually believe romney is going to save the country and get companies to bring jobs back here

Thats as dumb as asking a pack of coyotes to watch the chicken coop.

If romney wins, your kids, their kids etc etc, will be slave to minimum wage jobs in our country and thats a fact. So go ahead and make your own kids slaves to the dirtbag corporations, its no sweat off my balls

As an independent voter, here are my thoughts on how Obama will win:

In my view, Obama will probably squeak out a 2-4% popular vote margin and ultimately will win because of our electoral college system and its setup.

Obama basically has a "safe" 230+ electoral college votes in traditionally democratic leaning states, regardless of a possible uptick in voter turnout on the Republican side and/or less voter turnout from the usual democratic base. It's just not close in certain states no matter what Romney does.

I don't think, based on current polling data and past presidential elections, that potential "swing" states Michigan or New Hampshire can be won by Romney. Obama's support of the auto industry will likely allow him to prevail in Michigan.

Thus, Obama needs only approximately 30-40 additional electoral college votes from any of these eight "swing" states to reach 270:
FL(29), OH(18), VA(13), CO(9), IA(6), MO(10), NC(15), NV(6).

Romney win probably have to win 6 or 7 of these swing states. Can he? Possible, but very unlikely.

I think Romney wins in NC, MO and NV, but he can certainly lose one of them.

VA, OH and IA are interesting battlegrounds as well. Obama needs only one of these states, while Romney will likely require at least 2 of the 3.

Obviously, given the recent events in Colorado, it seems likely that Obama will become more appealing to certain voters there given his stance on gun control.

Florida, as usual, is key. If Obama wins Florida, it is virtually impossible for him not to reach 270. Early voting will be a key determinant and the Jewish vote may be decisive. Even if Obama loses FL, he can still capture the electoral college win. Romney does not have that luxury.

I really think it's Obama's election to lose.
I am not convinced, at this point, that Romney can galvanize and motivate the necessary voters in all of these swing states to reach 270.

the elderly and people that pasted away in the last 4 years... unless the GOP/teaparty is going to try to pull of the old counting dead people's votes in elections scam...

youngsters who voted for obama are now in their mid 20s...   and youngsters 18-22 who will likely vote for obama did not vote last time...

I am not saying he is winning but I am pointing out votes that you perhaps are not seeing

MELLOW_WOLF  ... your post #19, about Florida being a swing state.

That's the exact reason that I'm out here in Fl. promotion 4 more years for Obama....No more Katherine Harris baloney. This state is the key.
