As dramatic as it seems he makes a point.

Repubs are who brought the ban up, they are who is holding back the return.

Its amazing how some of you guys will never say anything about your party when they are clearly doing something wrong.  republicans and their bullshit morals are screwing us that like to gamble, which its pretty clear you dont gamble or else you would be pissed off about this. I expect all the guys on this site who gamble to be pissed no matter what party they are with.

Senator Kyl was strongly against gambling, all while the republica prick was accepting huge donations from vegas casinos. I guess hes against gambling only when it suits him, friggin hyprocrite.

your getting way ahead of yourself, lets get this garbage being legal and then worry about other things later. If you truly gamble, then you should be pissed off with your party for not jumping on board and supporting this.  Maybe the republicans should have never voted against in the firs place and we wouldnt be in this mess now.

isnt it amazing how these guys have short memories and will never say anything bad about their party.  It was the republicans when Frist was house speaker who added the bill to the port security bill which needed to get passed and there was no way the democrats could have voted no on the bill because of that.  On top of that these sneaky republicans did the vote at 3:00 a.m.  You gotta love these republicans and their moral values

Like i said Senator Kyl was huge against gambling, yet he had the nerve to accept big amounts of money from vegas casinos.  If thats not a hyprocrite i dont know what is.

Well that is true..

I dont know how much he receives from casinos since AZ does not RUN any per say, rather I think they assist the Indian casinos and get a piece of the action.

There are a ton of lemonade casinos around here, in the almost 10 yrs of living here I visited one, never went back.

1.) It is legal now.

2.) They want to take your money. They have zero interest in your freedom.

3.) I can't wait to try and overcome -120 on each side. (.10 to the book .10 to Osama)

tiki makes a good point

if the goverment legalizes on line gaming then they have to regulate it and take their cut as well; that will in turn cost all of us more.

its still legal, its just that the transferring of money is not legal though netbook or those other sites. i'm not defending the UIGEA passing in 06 or those fool slipping it into the Port Security bill to get it passed easier

tiki is right...-120 on every line, parlays only, 20% cap gains tax on winnings + the government tracking your every wager for income purposes

no thanks. just stop prosecuting gambling. its a victimless crime, as is prostitution

also, a senator from Nevada is full of it when he tries to legalize online gambling. every casino is his state will take a hit as will every restaurant and every hotel. he is full of crap and this is typical to push for something that will never pass to try and grab some headlines

Spot on with most of your thoughts, although I can see where there might be a push to allow internet gambling inside the USA then
If that is the case, the casinos themselves could get into the action.
If the economy stays sour, what better way to increase revenue

I am gonna be in Vegas from the 8th -19th this month and I was able to get my Mandalay suite comped for a week, and the other 4 nights at a reasonable rate...because Vegas is getting hit hard with this Obama depression

That wasnt your initial comment was it? The GOP was why we lost the ability to fund, and even though we do have our technicalities of being legal, we lost "liquidity" meaning the number of places to play reduced dramatically and the ability to send and receive money dried up..so the GOP got what they wanted without having to do the real dirty work.

You are also jumping about 10 steps saying that the government would be the HOUSE in this situation, but if they were the house (which makes no sense) the vig wouldnt be -120, as it is legal in Vegas and that is the model of what should be expected..if it were legalized it would be contracted out and the government would take a piece of the action and taxation would occur as it does NOW..not on every bet but as a net net on your taxes, which is what people are supposed to do now.

And most gamblers wouldn't have winnings to get taxed at years end anyhow.

you make a very compelling point, and actually one ive never heard before.  but i think the govt would tax the gambling entities as opposed to having a "capital gains like" tax on the gamblers.

my initial response was that the GOP right now, has no ability to push or block legislation

what they did in 06 is not relevant to the current harry reid push. dems could repeal that tomorrow if they wanted but they wont. that doesnt include government control

we'll have a Dept of Wagering with Wayne Allyn Root as the Betting Czar and he'll oversee everything. they wont contract anything out as it reduces their control

So regardless of their ability to block or not block...

The more important question is...

What is the GOP stance on the bill to legalize online gambling?

A. Supporting legalization
B. Against Legalization

I know what I want and what probably everyone on covers wants...  But I am not sure about what the GOP stance is on the bill, Yes or No...

Can any of the many well informed posters  answer this for me please?

DL,

They are against gambling. Thats why they snuck this crap into the port security bill and voted on it at 3:00 a.m.

Frist, kyl and goodlatte did this to all of us gamblers.

Kyl is a huge hypocrite right winger. He creates the bill to ban gambling, all while taking in huge donations from casinos.  He played that righteous card.  Huge piece of garbage

UIGEA is a joke, It does nothing to stem the legality of gambling. The industry is pretty solid right now.

The only problem would be interference with the US Gov. and your book of choice.

I personally love not having to include Uncle Sam in my wagering transactions.

DON'T LEGALIZE IT.
