I don't have FIOS in my area but I've called Verizon 1000 times inquiring about it. I pay @ $30 a month for a dsl connection speed of 3 megs. How bad am I getting ripped off?

Comcast for me - phone, net & cable for @$180 a month. Two tv's with HD, Showtime, Starz & HBO with one HD DVR. Love the on-demand, and the service has been very reliable (two brief outages in 1.5 years)
FIOS is coming to my area very soon, I expect to be able to leverage that for an even lower price with Comcast.  |

I have the speeds I have because I wanted the best HDTV package I could get with FIOS (which, in my area, is now served via Frontier, not Verizon).......& got 35/35 with it........didn't need it or ask for it...........just part of the package. Frankly, for me, it's a waste. Even though I just got a new laptop, I don't game online or transfer HUGE files (very often) so it really doesn't benefit me a whole lot. If you're in a position where those speeds would help you I can verify that the FIOS speeds are real & consistent.
BTW.........my costs (after the startup deal) is about $160/month for dial tone, broadband, & TV.............it's hard to gauge costs for dsl alone anymore with everyone trying to sell you triple-play packages. I wouldn't say $30/month is a rip-off........probably pretty standard, although the 4G & LTE stuff could render that obsolete in the near future.
