texas may suck, but we have superior athletes and when motivated and coached up can beat a team like Tech...

Unlike WV, Texas will score a lot of points on this porous Tech D...I don't know if we can win, but I think it will be a relatively close game...

no play for me...

Longhorns were looking past Kansas to this  game. They will be motivated and come to play up to the level of competition.

Ash is still starting QB and that's a good thing.  Despite last week, he's had a good season and can play.  McCoy almost threw the game away before a completion with a gift-wrapped INT that was dropped.

I also agree Texas will come in very motivated and play their hardest against a rival.  On the other hand, no matter how hard this Texas defense plays, they have no chance of stopping the Texas Tech offense.  They just can't get in position and are awful open field tacklers.

Only way Horns can win is by shootout.  Tech has just enough defense to prevent that.  At 6.5 spread, I'd have to take Tech.  Also, have some interest in the over.  Tech will score 40+ easy.  Texas won't lay down and will at least put up 30 with a wide open offensive game plan they know they must use to have a chance.

Ash got named the starter today by Mack.  Not good.  McCoy came in last week and the whole team perked up...he's a Texas kid and seems to me like he's got the players behind him and that's huge. Ash not so much.  Ash on LHN doesn't sound like a QB...doesn't seem like a leader to me.

I'm a Horns fan and will be at the game...hard for me to see Texas hanging with Ash at the helm.  Hopefully Mack puts McCoy in at the half and a back door cover comes into play for all the Horns backers.

No play for me as of now.

GL to all!!

That's another reason Texas will have a rougher day.  The fanbase is naively torn over the QBs now AND the head coach.  I know several longtime season ticket holders and members of the Longhorn Foundation (as I am) who understand Ash has had an admirable season overall.

Unless a 150.3 QB rating isn't good enough.  Or a 69% completion percentage.  Or an 8.1 yard per attempt average that exceeds 7 of the top 10 yardage gaining QBs in the country.  Or even a solid 12 TD to 5 INT ratio.   With 5 INTs and 147 completions, that's 1 INT for every 29 completions.  For those not in the know, that's an excellent ball protection ratio.

So where's the knock that has any real logic behind it?  Ash completes a very high rate of passes at 69%.  And not just short, easy passes...as a lofty 8.1 yards per attempt average clearly defines.  Uness the Horns have the best YAC receivers in the nation which they don't.

With 1 INT for every 29 completions...apparently he's not turning the ball over much on the season.  Team doesn't respond to him???  How in the hell is the Texas offense ranked 8th in the entire country in points scored with 41 per game?  Is all that done with an offense despite their not responding to their starting QB?  Gimme a break.  Or are we saying the defense which totally blows is not responding to the QB???  LOL

Most realistic Texas fans get that one awful game does not make a guy all of the sudden not good enough, even solid players have very bad days now and again.  And blaming OU on Ash would be a damn joke.  Let's not even go there.

Most also know good and well Case McCoy would have never thrown a completion in the entire KU game if the defender he threw a perfect strike to would have easily held on to the ball dead in his chest and sealed a KU victory right then.  On the scoring drive before that Case handed the ball off the entire drive.

If those Case fans took that into account and the game would have ended in defeat on the easiest INT of the KU dropping player's career, not a soul would be cheering Case, Case, Case like they are now.  Case would have sealed the most pathetic loss in recent Texas history.  KU never wins Big 12 games.

But sadly 50% of Texas fans are in full mutiny mode.  The defense is beyond awful, yet they are looking to hang anyone on the entire team who has a bad day now.  I even heard some mention benching Diggs (by far the best corner on the team) after he had several PI penalties against Baylor while covering one of the best WR's in the country).  Their anger is being taken out on anyone and everyone not playing good football on every down.

So yeah, I'd expect come Saturday for several of Texas' own fans to boo Ash like fools and girl all day about Mack Brown...and Harsin's play-calling, and Diaz's suckhole defense, and every other thing they can as Tech is beating us because their offense is FAR superior to our defense.

It's the nature of the beast at Texas...trust me I've seen it for 20 years.  When things go well, it's 100% pride.  When things go wrong half the fans want to fire Mack or girl at anyone and everyone on the field.  So yes, this will only help the opponent on Saturday, even if in any slight way.  But I seriously doubt Tech will need help.  Texas plays hard, Tech wins by 7-10.   OVER is the big play.

I understand what you are saying.  I think the "love" is more of what Texas has as far as talent.  Tech has good talent but not stacked 3 deep.  This year it is strange how Texas appears to be so bad.  However, as a Tech fan I have seen Texas teams miracalously become focused during Tech week and some how look like world beaters.

I hope you are right, 49-27 would be very nice.

Texas Tech at home against a bitter rival who has bullied them for decades is the pick.  Texas team and fanbase is split, Brown, who was never a great coach is unable to get them united.  The Texas team, like many in this conference is has their best talent on offense which leaves the defense vulnerable.  TT has a decent, not great, defense and that will give them the edge to cover a 6 point spread.

I know the Longhorn fans have this fantasy about having better talent than everyone but they simply don't.  Kids get 4 and 5 stars during recruiting based on how they performed in HS against weaker players.  When they get to college they can't bully everyone or rely simply on having more speed, similar when some college stars get to the NFL.  Texas has very good talent, but not so much better that they can just show up and win.  Other teams have talented players too, some of whom matured too late to make 4-5 stars in HS but now they have improved and may have more heart (less head).  The talent level between Texas and other Top 25 schools isn't significant...and their record shows it.

Texas Tech by 10+    Medium play

TTU will psyched out of their minds like they always are in Lubbock when they play UT.  This will lead to sloppy play and mistakes which will translate into points for Texas.  It happens like clockwork every two years in Lubbock.  TTU, like Nebraska, wants to beat Texas so badly that it actually works against them.  Officials usually get in the act in this game and will always make a few questionable calls in favor of the Horns.  Happens every year in Austin and Lubbock.

There are rumors of serious dissension on the Texas team.  Too many high school 5 star recruits and not enough playing time for all.  Good coaches like Saban know how to handle issue this but Mack ain't in the same class as Saban.  Not by a long shot.  Lots of problems internally at UT but not this week.  Both schools play to form when they meet in Lubbock usually which means a straight up UT win.  Money line play on Texas.

I'm sorry, but to be blunt about it, if you're leaning the way of the Longhorns, you need your head examined!

Doing this professionally, I was expecting a double-digit line and once I saw the Red Raiders were only (-7) at home, I urged everyone I knew to take a small mortgage out and put it on the home team to cover!

In the past two weeks, my picks are a ridiculous 43-9-0 with my top plays of the day coming in at 12/12! Please, listen to me on this one and take Texas Tech to cover... easily... by double-digits! G'luck, all!

Texas Tech is going to handle this game from start to finish. I don't care if it's a rivalry, if it's at Texas, at Texas Tech or even on the moon! The Red Raiders are simply going to dominate tomorrow!

$5k - Indiana (-2.5)
$3k - Texas Tech (-6.5)
$2k - Air Force (-7)
$2k - Arkansas State (-4)
$1k - Baylor (-17)

The last time I saw Texas was when the Sooners were beating them like they stole something, so I haven’t been keeping up with the QB drama in Mack Brown land.  However, when a man tells you to go and mortgage property to invest in a particular deal, it MUST be a winner…  Riding with you and W8 here…

Put me down for Texas Tech minus a touchdown at the house for a Dime Alex Trebek please.  Thanks!

I love the enthusiasm, my man! Now, what kind of interest rate did you get on that mortgage and is there an early payoff penalty? Haha! Let's get 'em, fellas!
