#1 Posted: 1/21/2012 4:36:17 PM Punkie Chicken rejects a 50-50 split to spoils a super fight. He knows Pacman won't accept it, it's just an alibi cause he is still scared to fight Pacman. Forget the calls and tweets, it does'nt matter cause if he really wants to fight, he should accept 50-50. For the last 5 years Pacman is the main attraction in boxing, while he was away and avoiding Pacman for two years and now he wants more. Wish Pacman will fight Cotto and retire. While he goes to jail, then he can hand pick an opponent for lesser purse.

REMEMBER BOXING IS BUSINESS. HIS THE ONE WHO'S CALLING, TWEETING AND DESPERATE TO HAVE THIS FIGHT, SO PACMAN WANTS 50-50 SPLIT. IF HE REALLY WANTS TO FIGHT, 50% IS A LOT OF MONEY, RATHER THAN FIGHTING SOMEBODY ELSE. IT'S A NO BRAINER NOT TO TAKE 50-50 OR HIS STILL SCARED TO FIGHT PACMAN.

question who makes more money per fight?

#5 Posted: 1/22/2012 3:56:38 PM Besides Floyd being gifted and an all-time great. One thing he learned... the WWE (WWF formerly) learned that ahving a good guy vs bad guy tripled the gate admission. Early when Floyd was still arrogant but quiet, revenues were small. Now people love to watch him... for (A) he is great and enjoy watching a great fighter (B) people hate him and want someone to beat his A$$!. Manny is likeable and people love his fights for action (one reason)... Floyd learned as others and other sport stars that it's not always the greatest athlete with the super contract. With HBO 24/7, his family probs and this and that are pure entertainment that are irrelevant to the upcoming bout. Remember, 90% PPV revenues are from non boxing followers but people who read USA today sports on boxing and want action. Even in a joke of a fight with Ortiz, controversy prevailed!

Thank you come again. Forget all those questions, he is the greatest chicken in the history of boxing. Pacman/Marquez has more than PPV revenues Chicken/Ortiz.

Thank you come again. Question: Who is going to jail in June and needs the fight to happen? He loses all leverage in the negotiating table because of his circumstances. This will be the biggest fight for either of them and a 50/50 split is only fair. It doesnt matter what Manny has said in the past. He should not have to give in to any of Mayweather's demands at all. For a short time after hearing Mayweather calling Manny out, I thought Pacman was the one who was scared. After thinking about it, I noticed Mayweather is just barking a bunch of garbage knowing the other side wont agree to his demands. Its a way for him to look like he wants the fight when in reality he knows the 2 sides wont come to an agreement. |

What? So, Instead f getting paid on who pays your income (fight fans), let's allow sportsbook linesmakers to determine your payday. LOL- This has got to be a joke. Fighters that generate the most fans interest and high PPV revenues makes sense.
The Hagler vs Leonard Purse was $23 Million. Hagler 12 million, and Leonard got 11 million. The odds opened at 4-1 as a Hagler favorite, then fell to 3-1. Under you great odds-purse theory, Leonard should have received $4.6 Million (Opening Odds) or $5.75 Million (closing odds)... and under with that in mind, NO FIGHT. Also, Leonard picked the ring size, gloves, rounds (12 not 15), and MANY PEOPLE including Hagler were unaware that Leonard had real fights take place before they fought to shake off the ring rust (against their agreement because Leonard getting hurt jeopardized money to a fight he couldn't afford to payback under negligence).

Go look at the list of fighters he hand picked and then tell me he is an all time great. He picks the weakest opponents when they are at their weakest. I have never seen a man get so much recognition for fighting fighters when they are old and washed up. Keep duckin butt hurt stuttering scared garbage less mayweather will never fight. He already has a list of excuses ready so this fight will never happen. The only way this fight takes place is if Pacman gets really old, injured and becomes a soft politician.

#14 Posted: 1/30/2012 10:36:24 PM THEY SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PPV REVENUES, CAUSE WHEN PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO USE BOXEE BOX. PPV REVENUES WILL GO DOWN BIG TIME. WHY PAY PPV IF YOU CAN WATCH IT IN YOUR T.V. WITH NO MONTHLY FEES. TRY BUYING ONE AND WILL SAVE YOU LOTS OF MONEY AND YOU CAN WATCH ALL THE INTERNET HAS TO OFFER. THIS IS THE WAY FANS TO GET EVEN.

#16 Posted: 1/31/2012 11:07:45 PM MoneySRH: Read about 10 posts I did regarding this issue. I will post one link and maybe you misunderstood sarcasm for reality.
http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=39&sub=101134475
I totally agree. This Ortiz fight was all hype. I have a few threads
that listed fighters Mayweather could have fought but decided to fight
past prime opponents, under sized champions, extremely over matched
opponents. Read the post I wrote or just read below the link and it is
the same. Enjoy! http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=39&sub=101106776 Mayweather
without a doubt possess all the skills. Understanding boxing and taking
on fights here and there to minimze risk is about strategy and
longevity, but many fighters use this as a tool to manufacture wins. At
his prime age of 27 Mayweather's past 10 opponents were: Shane Mosley 38 (past prime;prior he had 4 long tough fights ) Juan Manuel Marquez 36 (past prime;fight weight was to high) Ricky Hatton 29 (good fighter;not a true welterweight) Oscar De La Hoya 34 (past prime;wasn't great outside lightweight) Carlos Manuel Baldomir 35 (past prime;decent fighter) Zab Judah 28 (under-achiever, never beat a very good fighter) Sharmba Mitchell 35 (journeyman just above average) Arturo Gatti 33 (warrior but lacked any speed) Henry Bruseles 24 (nc) DeMarcus Corley 29 (nc) The last 8 opponents averaged an age of 33.5 and his last fight he was 33 years old. Here
is a list of ten popular fighter than could have been considered as
opponents and he should have fought at least one of them: Manny Pacquiao (Simple:He wants no part of Manny) Miguel Cotto (Cotto is mentally tough as they come) Antonion Margarito (Tall, great stamina and relentless) Sergio Mora (To much uncertainty) Paul Williams (Tall, good hand speed and stamina and relentless) Sergio Martinez (Fast, strong and great stamina) Winky Wright (Great technician and causes problems for most fighters) Joshua Clottey (Another physical & mental tough fighter) Amir Khan (Great fighter and fast) Andre Berto (Fast hands and combinations) Vernon Forrest (RIP: Tall and Fast) Out
of all these listed, I feel Floyd should have fought Cotto. Mayweather
is bigger, faster, and better all around except for ring confidence. Yes
Mayweather has confidence, but Cotto in battle doesn't even consider
the word losing or pain and injury. Mayweather is more talk and his
fight selection proves it. If he was so confident, he would have taken
on one, several or most that I listed. After the Castillo fight he
really changed his attitude on TV about fighting the best fighters and
put a nice media spin stating he was the best and he had nothing to
prove. It reminds me of a poker online scandal just revealed days ago.
The accused admitted he was cheating but 5 months prior in an interview
he stated he was cheated by close friends so at this point people felt
sorry for him and trusted him while all along he was the one cheating
his close friends. Back to Mayweather and his poor selection of fighters
should show a lack of his confidence in his abilities and shouldn't
even be considered. Potential and possessing ability is one thing, going
out and performing against the very best is another. Manny does it,
Mayweather doesn't! Unlike great fighters who are in a division that at
the time lacks talent are in an unfortunate situation, Mayweather had
all the choices to make real fights but used his 24/7 promos and side
antics to sell tickets on his ability and not the actual competitiveness
of the bout. Mayweather did fight a very well conditioned Mosley (38),
but Mosley is and always has been a counter-puncher. So when you have a
fighter like Margarito attacking you with wid punches it's a perfect fit
for you, but having a fast highly skilled defensive fighter that throws
and moves, his one dimensional style gets exposed and that is what
exactly happened.

It was more Ironic than factual. Floyd has great skills, but to test them against opponents at when his advantages are all increased and they are decreasing was many posts I made. Not sure if you read one post and decided to comment, but read the history of posts and you will know which posts are mocking Floyd and which are not. I stated that a fighter with such ability is shameful to watch him fight opponents with no chance.
I hope you read previous posts and get a very thorough breakdown on his history. Before you point the finger, don't be like so many newpapers taking quotes on of context. GL.

#20 Posted: 2/2/2012 10:06:02 PM ZOUK, I like you dude. I appreciate your passion for posting on this site, and I dont wanna "spar", but I gotta defend Floyd to some extent. First off, hes an behind, and I cant stand him as a person. BUT........
Boxing is alot different than MMA. Its totally obvious that Promoters "groom" their fighters, so theres alot of difficulty in matching Floyd with ANY top prospects. If you wanna know why, read in the parenthesis in your post beside Winky Wright. That alone, on the other side of the coin, has cost Floyd many (fan friendly) fights. Everyone assumes that if theres been a POTENTIAL good fight over the years, that the other guy wants the fight as well. Bullshit, I would agree, for not wanting to fight the best, but I've heard ALOT, and you all know it, ALOT of young fighters trainers and/promoters more less openly state their prospect is not ready for a Floyd Mayweather fight. Well, when the darn are they ready then??? Obviously after the haters think it should have happened,.
Again, not to beef.......just sayin.....Oh well, FLOYD TO WIN, and it rains in my bankroll once again......... |

#21 Posted: 2/3/2012 1:14:13 PM I hear ya JB, just that I think Floyd used his pick-n-choose power to a point where he wouldn't get a challenging interesting bout. Even though when Cotto was undefeated, Floyd should have set-up that fight (easy win for him), but my issue is that besides the old saying you got to beat the best (or top) to be the best, but Floyd remains very distant about fights that have any questionable possibility that Floyd won't dominate. I was surprised at Oscar doing well as he did but only made Floyd more cautious for future fights. Floyd frustrates me cause he has the gift but yet to allow it to come down to heart and determination in winning a tough bout.
