You always see a lot of low income people that are fat(talking about in the ghetto and in the trailer parks) and you would think it would be the other way around.
I have no idea what the stats are in terms of income level and obesity levels, but it does cost more money to eat well.
Just bought some grapes....$3.99 per pound. Apples....$3.99 per pound. Blueberries....$4.99 per pound. Strawberries are now in season, but in the winter months, they cost a fortune around here. Peaches are just coming into season and those are $3.99 per pound.

But you can get a "BIG GRAB" bag of Lays potato chips for just $1.49 at the Speedy Mart by my place here. What's wrong with this picture?

I am considered "overweight" by BMI at 6'2" and 215 lbs. I'd have to be UNDER 195 pounds to be considered "normal" weight by BMI. What a silly measure.

Not only insurance rates going up, but one more thing that can be added to qualify someone for disability and a cop out to avoid personal responsibility. Another pat on the head and say "It's not your fault.....the hand out line starts over there."

instead of me paying extra for insurance or other's medical treatment, i can tell you three things that will "cure" obesity in the majority of people.

No doubt obesity is hereditary, but calling it a disease? I don't know. I know some thin people that just got lazy and got fat. There are not too many fat people in other countries outside of the U.S.
Its not hereditary. Thats what lazy people say. Just cause your parents are fat doesnt mean you have to be fat. Kids get fat because they eat what their parents or because their parents plop them in front of the tube....Its not predisposed for people to be fat, I dont care what "studies" say.....

In making the decision, delegates at the association's annual meeting in Chicago overrode a recommendation against doing so by a committee that had studied the matter.
...
To some extent, the question of whether obesity is a disease or not is a semantic one, since there is not even a universally agreed upon definition of what constitutes a disease. And the A.M.A.’s decision has no legal authority.
In other words, the decision is political, perhaps rent seeking, and definitely not scientific. But just wait until the fat woman you work with gets fired, she will now have legal counsel sue for discrimination against her "disease"
