#7 Posted: 7/11/2012 3:15:46 PM The problem with this whole situation is Howson's asking price is ridiculous right now. The Rangers seem like the most likely destination, but they've been the most likely destination since the trade deadline last season and that still hasn't happened. Pittsburgh doesn't have the forwards to trade that Howson's looking to get back, and I can't see Philly moving Couturier or Schenn to make the deal happen. Holland's not gonna make a stupid offer, and I can't see Boston doing it either. Maybe San Jose if they're looking to shake up their roster, but it all goes back to Howson being the problem.
I don't know if any of you saw, but it was rumored that the Islanders offered CBus like 7 picks to move up two spots and Cbus declined.
Nash would easily touch 40 goals in a full season on any of those teams in my opinion. |

definately would look good on a wing with Crosby or Malkin BUT I don't think my Pennies can absorb the "cap hit" and like FBNK said "Pittsburgh doesn't have the forwards to trade that Howson's looking to get back"
most likely "landing site" is New York because they almost always overpay for "marquee players" |

#9 Posted: 7/11/2012 5:48:49 PM It depends if Nash wants to win though. After so many losing seasons in Columbus doesn't he want to continue that. Some players want to win...others only care about money and that is all.

#11 Posted: 7/11/2012 11:43:25 PM Yeah.. CBus is in rebuild mode for sure. But, they have some nice young pieces there and coming up through the system, and could grab a few more with a trade of Nash. But Howson's asking a team to essentially gut their future for him, and teams just aren't going to do that. |

Cap hit isn't great, but they're sitting on about 11 million, and he's around 8 mil for 6 years. But Malkin's do an extension next summer and Letang in 2014, so they've got to make room for that. The guy would score 40 goals in Pittsburgh, and can create on his own if 87 were to go down with an injury. That's the difference between him and Neal imo, the ability to create by himself, Neal can't do nearly what Nash can.
I'd love to see Rick Nash play with Crosby, but I just don't see it happening, unfortunately. |

#13 Posted: 7/11/2012 11:58:18 PM I would love for Nash to come to San Jose... but I keep hearing the return price is just ridiculous. I can deal with Pavs moving but Logan Couture better not

#14 Posted: 7/16/2012 1:37:30 AM Rick Nash playing for last place Columbus and having a "No trade clause" and making a short list of teams he'll play for is comical. What team exactly (outside of the leafs) would be worse than where you are now Rick? Make the deal already. One things for sure, this will be the Nash coming out party because there's no more hiding behind the lowly Jackets any longer. PS don't get traded to a Canadian city, the media attention would crush you, and besides, we don't win cups up here as you've prob heard. |

#17 Posted: 7/23/2012 2:27:31 PM Probably the Rangers or a team out west now.. Looks like Weber's going to the Flyers, Rangers may feel they need to make a blockbuster move as well.
Haven't heard much recently though, which makes me have a feeling he may end up starting the season in CBus. That would be a disaster. |

Are we really comparing Scott Gomez and Wade Redden to Rick Nash?

Actually over the next couple of seasons they are going to reduce their cap hit by around 200k. Only downside is the years Nash has left. But dollar for dollar the deal was about even. As hilarous as that sounds. Gotta love Slats making up for huge stupid contracts. Gomez became Mac Truck and Dubi became Nash. Unreal job. |

#22 Posted: 7/23/2012 9:37:44 PM But actually I will amend that last post. It was two NHL'ers for 1. So they will have to add salary to fill the extra spot. But still, I think it makes sense at least for the next couple of seasons. And they are currently 13 millions UNDER the cap. So all is well in Satherland at the moment |
