Wtf. I'm warm, start light and move to the 4th set max weight which is not all that heavy for me. Then the left ham goes, then the right on the next set...workout is over.

Heavey squats no problem, leg press none.

Frustrating as all hell - any suggestions?

No I don't stretch them b4.

Warmup with just the bar 2 sets x 10.

145, easy stretch set of 8 on each leg.

185, 7 reps each leg

205, 7 reps ech

225, 7 reps each.

225 again - left hamstring strains sharp, right ham is ok.

One more try and they both strain. One more attempt and I'll full blown pull one or both so the day is over.

Ummmmm, how about NOT doing lunges?

There are many exercises that I had to dump because of strain, usually on my joints (had to stop squating after ACL reconstruction, quit military presses after massive joint pain, etc).

It's just not worth it to keep butchering your body. Find other exercises to hit that body part.

Your body will thank you, especially when you get older.

Do Bulgarian lunges and you will die

No, but those Bulgarian ones are total ball busters. Easily the toughest leg exercise besides squatting.

Do tell.

I'm not stretching the hams at all pre, and no, I won't ever stop doing lunges twice a month.

Maybe I'm just fuckin old. The strength is there but the ligaments won't take it anymore. Why does 315 squat for 10-11 go up without a problem?

Stretching ham would help. I dunno - Wide open to your call on a good pre warm.

Sucks.
