#1 Posted: 12/22/2010 2:41:09 PM I work out every day. I split up the muscle groups well and have always been making progress. Is it 100% necessary to take periods of time off in order to really experience growth?? I HATE missing a day at the gym, and don't know what I would do with a couple weeks of not going.

#10 Posted: 12/26/2010 9:51:25 AM Doesn't have to be a week or taken at any particular interval. Listen to your body.........if you're feeling lethargic or just unusually sore/stiff, take a couple days off, 3-4 days, or a week if that's what it takes to feel normal/refreshed. Mental fatigue is also a real issue. If you find yourself just going through the motions rather working out with intensity, and/or feeling irritable or just tired all the time, take a break. I'm hoping you know that it's unwise to work a body part that's still sore from a previous workout.........means it's not healed & it's counter-productive to hit it again until it is healed.
But the bottom line is........taking a break to allow your body to heal/grow is a positive thing........& it's probably better to do so before any of the aforementioned conditions sets in real hard.

#12 Posted: 12/30/2010 11:59:52 AM I have opted to take a week off of everything but legs. All the rest will get a weeks rest, while taking no supplements of any kind except a small amount of creatine to continue the recovery after leg workouts. I think it'll pay off.
