I've had little to no time for write ups again :(
Not a very good event prediction wise for UFC 152, the dog's were howlin' but I made some bad calls either way.
Last event: 4 - 8 YTD: 53 - 30
Jason Young
vs.
Robbie Peralta
Preliminary Card | Featherweight | 145 lbs (65.8 kg)
Tough fight to cap. I picked Young in Whipton's thread but I think I'll change my mind and go with Peralta via decision.
DaMarques Johnson
vs.
Gunnar Nelson
Preliminary Card | Catchweight | 175 lbs (79.4 kg)
Good on DaMarques stepping up up on late notice, tons of
respect for the dude and I hate picking against him. This is Gunnar's
first fight in the UFC but he has been around combat sports from a very
young age. He picked up Goju-ryu Karate at age 13 and how holds black-belts in both BJJ and Goju-ryu.
DaMarques has a height and reach advantage as well as possessing some
pretty feisty and underrated take-down defense. Gunnar's specialty is
BJJ as he received his black belt from Renzo Gracie in 2009. Johnson's
offensive grappling has always been underrated but he is prone to
submission loses as he has 6 defeats by way of catch. Lots of unknowns
in this fight, but gun to my head I'll drink the kool aid and go with Gunnar via positional ground and pound TKO in the 2nd. |

Tom Watson
vs.
Brad Tavares
Preliminary Card | Middleweight | 185 lbs (83.9 kg)
I didn't know that Watson has been training at Tri-Star in Montreal. That changes things a bit. At first I was thinking blow out for Tavares but after re-thinking Watson might have what it takes to win a striking match. Watson's "octagon jitters" should be offset by the fact he is fighting on his home soil. Another tough fight to call, great match making. I'll take Tavares via split decision.

Andy Ogle
vs.
Akira Corassani
Preliminary Card | Lightweight | 155 lbs (70.3 kg)
Once again good match making, this fight should be pretty even but I like Corassani to keep it standing where I think he should have an advantage. Ogle is well rounded and made it quite far into the TUF house before being knocked out by the eventual winner. Corassani via KO in the third.

Jimi Manuwa
vs.
Kyle Kingsbury
Preliminary Card | Light Heavyweight | 205 lbs (93.0 kg)
Well I didn't have much time to look up footage of Manuwa, a bit of hype surrounding his UFC debut, he apparently turned down the offer to fight in the octagon twice because he thought he was not ready. I am staying away from this fight but I'll go with Manuwa via KO in the first.

#5 Posted: 9/27/2012 5:26:45 PM Che Mills
vs.
Duane Ludwig
Main Card | Welterweight | 170 lbs (77.1 kg)
Che Mills should have little to no problems with Duane. Mills via second round TKO.

John Maguire
vs.
John Hathaway
Main Card | Welterweight | 170 lbs (77.1 kg)
Former rugby player Hathaway takes this by UD.

Matt Wiman
vs.
Paul Sass
Main Card | Lightweight | 155 lbs (70.3 kg)
I want to pick Sass because I absolutely love his style. Sass' striking is very green and he seems to lack that explosive wrestling needed to take a guy like Wiman down, sure he can pull guard but Wiman should be aware enough to stop those lanky legs from locking on a triangle as Wiman has never been submitted and has tangled with aggressive grapplers like Jim Miller before. (although Sass' offensive grappling is on another level) This all being said it would not surprise me in the least if Sass pulled guard and somehow found a heel hook or triangle.
Prediction - Wiman by TKO in the third.

Brad Pickett
vs.
Yves Jabouin
Main Card | Bantamweight | 135 lbs (61.2 kg)
Possible fight of the night, I don't agree with the lines as I think it should be quite a bit closer but I think Pickett will pick up the win on home soil via UD.

Dan Hardy
vs.
Amir Sadollah
Co-Main Event | Welterweight | 170 lbs (77.1 kg)
Sadollah has never really impressed me, Hardy is quite underwhelming as well, however he is fighting literally a 10 minute walk away from his home in England and has been working diligently on his offensive and defensive wrestling, I think we'll see a improved and pumped up Hard Saturday and he will knock out Sadollah in the 2nd.

Stefan Struve
vs.
Stipe Miocic
Main Event | Heavyweight | 265 lbs (120.2 kg)
Struve is a live dog, especially if he uses that reach properly. He is still young and is adding weight and muscle to his ridiculous frame, he already has the natural leverage with his massive arms and legs so I don't think it will be too long before we see him knocking down/out heavyweights with a well placed jab. Still picking my boy Miocic to win via KO in the third. Good luck everyone.

#11 Posted: 9/29/2012 2:31:51 AM Agreed on most of it, I like Sass to get that sub though and can't see Hardy knocking out Amir, but who knows. Good luck crowat

#17 Posted: 9/29/2012 6:48:03 PM almost a perfect card, I knew Stipe had gas tank issues but that was kinda pathetic. Good fights all around!
