#1 Posted: 3/3/2012 4:33:21 PM YTD Record:
Overall: 37-29-1, +20.25 Units
UFC: 34-27-1, +15.95 Units
Strikeforce: 3-2, +4.30 Units
Final 2011 Record: 148-132-3, +123.55 Units
Final 2010 Record: 115-119-3, +11.25 Units
Final 2009 Record: 80-82-1, +23.75 Units
I am happy to report that my Ian McCall wager was ruled as void by my book, so I have reflected my record for the books decision.
For those of you who tailed and took Ian McCall last night, I suggest you get in touch with your respective book to get your money back...
Here are the plays for tonight's card:
1. I am pounding Meisha Tate over Ronda Rousey for 10 units tonight, but one of my books sets fairly low limits for Strikeforce, so I have had to be a bit creative in making my bets.
First I have risked 4.3 units on Tate as a straigh bet at (+255) to win 10.9 units. Then I parlay Tate with Jacre Souza over Bristol Marunde risking 5.7 units to win 17.60 units.
Therefore, my total wager is risking 10 units to win 28.5 units
I have said this before and I will say it again. Gamble within your limits. There is a lot of unknowns regarding Ronda Rousey. The books have set Rousey as a big fav for a reason. I can afford to lose the 10 units here. Don't gamle here with money you cannot afford to lose. |

#2 Posted: 3/3/2012 4:36:52 PM 2. Parlay of Jacre Souza over Bristol Marunde, Roger Bowling over Brandon Saling and Lumumba Sayers over Scott Smith. Risking 5 units to win 5.35 units.
3. Parlay of Paul Daley over Kazuo Misaki and Josh Thompson over KJ Noons. Risking 3.1 units to win 3 units.
4. Pat Healy (+156) over Caros Fodor. Risking 3 units to win 4.7 units.
5. Ryan Couture (+260) over Conor Heun. Risking 1 unit to win 2.6 units.
6. Alexis Davis (+425) over Sarah Kaufman. Risking 1 unit to win 4.25 units.
BOL to everyone with your plays!!! |

#3 Posted: 3/3/2012 4:41:56 PM More about my Tate play. Rousey's been very impressive so far, but she has fought 4 complete cans. This is a huge step up in class for. Tate has got a very solid all around game, especially her wrestling and submission defense. Her striking has also improved substantially, and trains with one of the best MMA camps.
I really do not think Rousey is going to be able to take Tate down, and if she does, I think Tate's submission defense is good enough to avoid getting caught. It is really hard to know how Rousey will respond if she cannot get the quick finish. We have seen what Tate offers deeper into fights, and I am impressed by what I have seen. |

I follow your plays and I mean no disrespect but rousey will win tonite and quickly
yes I did bet rousey and yes i understand you even said you are betting with money you can afford to lose
this fight reminds me of gina vs cyborg or jones vs shogun
if both cases the challenger was -200 or so and everyone took the experienced champ with a bad result |

I think most of the MMA sharps were pounding Cyborg and Jones in those fights.
...and really, you cannot compare Cyborg and Jones to Rousey. We had a lot more info on both Cyborg and especially Jones going into those title fights that we do about Rousey... |

You say you know a lot about Rousey. What do you know about her that you think I have missed? |

Well, that is good info. I have no reason to believe that you are lying.
I really hope the fight does go a little deeper so that we can see how well rounded she really is.
My only concern is that cardio in training vs cardio in a fight can be seriously effected when the adrenaline of competition kicks in. We saw it last night with Kyle Noke. When he was not able to lock in that submission on Andrew Craig in the first 3 minutes, he completely gassed. Noke has not had cardio issues in the past from what I recall. I am not saying that this would happen to Rousey, but I am very intrigued to see how she responds if she cannot get a quick finish.
I cannot wait to see Rousey's standup. In 4 fights, we really have not seen her strike or defend strikes, because she has finished so quickly. For her sake, I hope she is more than a one trick pony... |

I may not come out ahead on every card, but I try my best, and have had some long term success, but yes, it does take a lot of time and hard work... |

There is nothing else to say. You presented your reasoning in a clear, respectful manner. I have no problem with that...
Just don't come in here and gloat if she wins (afterall, she is a huge fav)... ,
Will she become the female Fedor? Time will tell...
BOL on all your wagers tonight. |

The Couture fight is going to be very interesting. I don't think Conor Heun should be as big of a fav in this fight. It will be intersting to see how much of an improvement we will see out of Ryan tonight... |
