#3 Posted: 6/24/2012 12:46:10 AM Looking good with McCarthy out.
Brandon McCarthy, SP, OAK
News: A’s starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy was scratched from his start on Sunday against the Giants, as he continues to deal with linger soreness in his pitching shoulder. McCarthy has dealt with this issue since May, and has been skipped in the rotation a few times as the A’s have tried to diagnose exactly what is wrong. He has pitched just once in the last two weeks, and he told MLB.com after Saturday’s game that it is starting to wear on him. "The last two weeks have been about as mentally harrowing as I’ve had in my career, where it’s just dealing with pain every day,” he said. A replacement starter has not been announced as of Saturday night, and it is not known how long this will continue to be an issue. |

#7 Posted: 6/24/2012 12:45:21 PM good looking pick, skip! A's have been falling apart and Cain has been pretty steller. Nice odds and well done on being patient with making this pick. GL!

#8 Posted: 6/24/2012 12:50:04 PM Looks like a solid pick to me, SkipspikS! Cain has been lights out lately and Oakland appears to be going south a little bit after playing well for the last couple of weeks or so. Not to mention, your SF selections have worked well for you as they've won six times for you during your streak.
The only possible fly in the ointment is Griffin's minor league stats have looked pretty good but, then again, he's not pitching against a minor league team today.
Best of luck today!

The A's are starting a kid that was pitching AA ball this year.

#16 Posted: 6/24/2012 7:32:14 PM NO!!!!!! You gotta be kidding me. I'm about the throw up and I only had an 11 streak. I can't imagine how I feel if I was 2 picks away from 25K. Real tough break Skip. |

#18 Posted: 6/24/2012 7:41:31 PM I didn't pick the game on covers but I did on SFTC, I only had a 2 game winning streak which is nothing but to lose a 20 gamer with 1 strike to go thanks to an awful closer....... I feel for you (and for anyone else for that matter likepkeehan that had a double digit streak on this) when it comes to baseball the best research can fail when you pick a team based on their form and the starting pitchers and the starter of the team you and I chose did his job (in this case Matt Cain for the Giants) and then the bullpen possibly even the closer wrecks it. But what happened here has to be tough on anyone, I'm sorry once again for this awful heartbreaking loss.

#19 Posted: 6/24/2012 7:50:25 PM Very tough Skip - feel for ya bud. At least you'll have no regret on the pick, but know at 19 with that kind of loss it doesn't help any. |

Take a guy whose dealing out the game and put in a scrub reliever and bye bye hardwork chance to win. Congrats on the $1,000 which is a far to $25k Hope you hedge on A's??BOL on your next streak |

Cain had over 110 pitches by the time he left. Nothing unusual at all about not wanting your ace to have his arm fall off, so pulling him at such a point. |

#23 Posted: 6/25/2012 11:13:12 AM Sorry for your loss Skipspiks. I wish I could have stopped you before you made this pick. I wrote how I thought this was a trap game and because of the huge rivalry. Oakland would win. Your run was outstanding. I'm sorry it had to be so painful but you can get another one going. |

You figured it was a trap and could of saved his streak huh. Skip was doing fine and had the matchup he needed. |
