Well obviously you have a year to deal with in order to deep 6 that felony so you're lucky. In the meantime you can take some steps in application process until you're expunge to misd is official.

Commercial diving is extremely lucrative w/ good composure. Your ass will be kicked 9 ways to Sunday but if you have the focus then you'll move well.

You might a putz though - I dunno. Deep water and scary stuff. You are a mouse in a lab first run.

Try googling what others in your situation have done to get back into society.

Moving companies are a good place to check; they need people who will show up for work & do a decent job for a decent days pay.

In the meantime, do some volunteer work in your community & you'll meet people who may be in a position to give you a break. Be willing to help others & others will be willing to help you.

Jobs all over the world if you reach Divemaster. Beyond that to instructor it gets better. You are 25..... start tomorrow. I'm not going to tell you the glory of it because there's little. It takes your sleep, food and full concentration and careful skill.

He needs to help himself out of prison before he can help others asshole. Take pride, regain self esteem, fullfillment and feel as though the remainder of his life at 25 is note dire straights because of an impulsive shoplifting stage in his life.

Cheers Spifire. Diving at the professional level from day one in basic all the way through to pro will challenge a man's will to continue. They ( I for certain)  know who is in my class and when to push them off. You're ability to educate, lead and take a very serious approach to your fellow man is beyond comprehension. Hey Mr. Knowitall....where does it say he's still in prison? He's out on the street getting rejected at every turn. When you help others, you regain self esteem & realize you can be a productive member of society. It also helps when being considered by a prospective employer to use a reference he's made as a volunteer in a hospital or a soup kitchen etc. No one can do it alone; not even you superstar........

I think this is a tragedy.  America is the land of second chances, but yet there is a huge number of people who have paid the price for their mistakes and cannot take part as a functioning member of society.

I can only hope that the govt steps in on this and does something.
