My analysis
The Dallas Stars got a tough draw in the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in the first round. They are the top seed in the Western Conference and face arguably one of the hardest opponents to start things off.
Second-line winger Mason Marchment scored the Stars’ third goal in Game 1 by simply throwing the puck on net from just inside the blue line. Vegas goaltender Logan Thompson misplayed it, and that gave Dallas some hope.
Marchment’s goal was one of three shots for him in the game. He had five total shot attempts, which has become a bit of a trend recently. The winger has had at least two shots on goal in seven straight games, 10 of his last 11, and 13 of his last 15 overall.
We’re once again getting Marchment’s shot on goal line set at the low number of 1.5. He’s had at least three shots on goal in three straight games and five of his past 10 contests, so laddering him up to Over 2.5 shots on goal (if your book allows) could be worth a look as well.

I’m expecting the Stars to play a more responsible game on home ice in Game 2. They were 26-11-4 at home during the regular season, while the Vegas Golden Knights were just 18-17-6 on the road.
There were only 3.15 expected goals at 5-on-5 (per Natural Stat Trick) in Game 1 and 5.03 in all situations. Jake Oettinger should bounce back with a strong game for the Stars in net.
