Pick 'n' roll: Wednesday's best NBA bets

Memphis Grizzlies at Atlanta Hawks (+9, 196.5) odds provided by logans

The Hawks are one of the season’s biggest surprises at 10-6, but they’ve had a knack for letting opponents hang around rather than closing out strong.

“I don't like games to get that close,” Hawks coach Mike Woodson told reporters after Saturday’s 102-98 narrow win over the Washington Wizards. “We make it close coming down the stretch.”

Clubs like the Hawks, who rely heavily on the long ball, have a tendency to lose their legs down the stretch. The Hawks are ranked first in three-point field goal percentage (41.9 percent), but shoot just 44 percent from the field.

Atlanta’s last three contests have been decided by five points or less and the squad has covered the spread just three times in its last 10 overall.

Pick: Memphis

Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics (-12.5, 198) odds provided by logans

The Pacers got the best of the Celtics when the two clubs met at the start of November.  Indiana had five players score in double digits and shot 40 percent from the field en route to 16-point win over the defending champs.

Lightning shouldn’t strike again.

The Celtics turned the ball over 24 times against an Indiana team that ranks near the bottom of the league in steals. Boston hit just 34.6 percent from the field against the Pacers, including 3-for-15 shooting from leading scorer Paul Pierce (18.4 PPG).

Since losing to the Pacers, Boston has won 14 of its last 15 overall. The Pacers, on the other hand, are a dismal 5-9 since toppling the Celtics last month.

Pick: Boston

UNC is on a whole other level than the rest of the teams. Bad call by me, as i saw this being a closer game than it was. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

Quick note. Deron Williams may sit out for the Jazz. Both he and Wade are game time decisions. With all the unknown variables involved with this game, i have reversed my bet and taken Miami +4. Cancelling my original wager. This game is officially a no play for me until further notice. Sticking with only two games for this evening: OKC +9 and Mich St. +10.5 Good Luck

Pricedin, with you on Maryland. Not so sure about the Celts -13 (big #) but I do like the C's over 200 and also took LAL over 200. Both of these teams have been hitting the over of late and both should be looking to run it up tonight. Just don't like laying the heavy number. Tailed the board on MTSU pick and hope they grind em up. Also like UNC in a blowout and URI to win a close one for smaller plays.

Three plays for me tonite. Sorry, no writeup. My picks are OKC +9, UTA -4, and Michigan state +10.5 DWade is listed as questionable and even doubtful at some places. If he doesn't go, expect this line to go upto a -7 or higher even. I will take my chances even if he does play with the Jazz at home at -4. Good Luck
