New Jersey vs. New York Rangers (-140, 5)
Goalie rivalries can be strange. The one between Jersey’s Martin Brodeur and New York’s Henrik Lundqvist just got stranger.
Brodeur was recently quoted in Sports Illustrated as saying, “The way he plays is not something I like too much. Lundqvist is weird."
Maybe Brodeur just finds it weird that another goalie is destroying him in head-to-head matchups. According to a report in the New York Post, Lundvist is 11-2-3 in his career against Brodeur. Lundqvist has also allowed only five goals in six Ranger wins over New Jersey this year.
With these two goalies out to show one another up tonight and the Rangers leading scorer Scott Gomez out, we could see another tight game.
Pick: under
New York Islanders vs. Pittsburgh (-300, 5 ½)
Guess who’s back for Pittsburgh tonight?
We’ll give you a hint. He’s young. He’s good. He’s last year’s MVP.
If you don’t know who we mean, please leave this page immediately and do not bet hockey this evening, or ever.
Sidney Crosby returns for the Pens tonight after missing 28 of the last 31 games. Easy win for the Penguins right? Whoa! Look at that chalk, though. Maybe that price is a little steep.
The puckline might be worth a gamble considering goalie Rick DiPietro is gone for the season along with a laundry list of other Islanders. The Isles also beat the Pens 4-1 Monday night and Pittsburgh can’t be too happy about it.
Pick: Pittsburgh -1 ½ (-110)
