The Los Angeles Sparks will begin their post-Kelsey Plum era on Sunday afternoon as they visit the Portland Fire.
Portland's home court advantage will be too much for a floundering Los Angeles team, which is why I'm taking the hosts to cover in my Sparks vs. Fire predictions.

Sparks vs Fire prediction
Sparks vs Fire best bet: Fire -1.5 (+100)
The Los Angeles Sparks were already riding a six-game losing streak heading into the weekend, but their roster quality took a massive hit when the team traded away Kelsey Plum last night.
The Sparks are last in scoring defense (94.1 ppg) and will see their already mediocre offensive rating (107.0) plummet without Plum's 23.9 points and 6.4 assists per game.
Without Plum, Los Angeles lacks the offensive firepower needed to keep up with a Portland Fire offense that shoots to a 52.3% effective field goal percentage.
I'm taking Portland to cover at -2.5 or less.

Sparks vs Fire same-game parlay
By almost any metric you choose, these are two of the worst defensive teams in the WNBA.
The Fire have also hit the Over in four straight games and six of their last seven, playing to totals of 194+ four times in that span. I like the Over to hit this afternoon.
All those points should mean plenty of scoring opportunities for Fire forward Bridget Carleton (14.1 ppg).
Carleton has averaged 20.2 ppg in his last four contests, seeing her usage increase dramatically in this recent stretch. That has me targeting her to hit her scoring Over in my SGP.
Sparks vs Fire SGP
- Fire +1.5
- Over 185.5
- Bridget Carleton Over 13.5 points

Sparks vs Fire player prop pick
Bridget Carleton Over 2.5 threes (-110)
Carleton has been shooting the ball with more volume than ever over the past two weeks. In her last four games, she has taken at least 14 shots in each contest, including a minimum of nine shots from 3-point range.
That has led Carleton to hit 3+ shots from deep in three of those four contests. Even at lower volume, Carleton was always a threat to hit the Over on her made threes prop, but her current usage makes it a great bet, especially against a Sparks team that allows 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
- Best bet: 16-20, -5.22 units
- SGP: 5-31, -2.21 units
- Player prop: 12-4, +7.27 units
