Kimani Lawrence made three free throws and scored all five points of his points in the last two minutes to lift Arizona State to a 79-75 win over visiting Stanford in a Pac-12 game Saturday at Tempe, Ariz.
After Lawrence made two free throws with 1:46 left to put Arizona State (6-8, 3-5 Pac-12) ahead 74-73, Stanford's Michael O'Connell made a jump shot with 1:17 left.
Oscar da Silva then blocked Alonzo Verge Jr.'s attempt but Jaiden Delaire was called for a foul going after the loose ball.
Arizona State took the ball out of bounds and Lawrence was fouled by Spencer Jones on a shot attempt near the rim.
Delaire was called for goaltending on the play after he grabbed the ball off the backboard. Lawrence completed the 3-point play to put Arizona State ahead 77-75 with 41 seconds left.
O'Connell turned the ball over and fouled Remy Martin, who missed the front end of a one-and-one.
After a Stanford timeout with 8.6 seconds left, da Silva missed a shot in the lane and Verge grabbed the loose ball in the lane. He was fouled by O'Connell with 0.7 seconds left and made both free throws to secure the win.
Martin was one of five Arizona State players scoring in double figures with a game-high 23 points with six assists and four steals.
Josh Christopher finished with 15 points and Marcus Bagley, Jalen Graham and Verge each finished with 12 points.
Stanford (10-6, 6-4) played its third consecutive game without three of its regular starters.
Prior to playing ASU, the Cardinal defeated conference title contenders UCLA and Arizona in consecutive games without starters Ziaire Williams (personal reasons) Bryce Wills (knee) and Daejon Davis (knee). They did not make the trip to Arizona.
Delaire led Stanford with 21 points and da Silva finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cardinal had difficulty getting in sync early against Arizona State's perimeter quickness.
They had 20 turnovers, which almost equaled the shots they made from the field (21).
Stanford was also 2 of 15 from 3-point range.
