Tottenham will face their most difficult test yet on Sunday, as they welcome Chelsea in a London derby. A perfect start to Spurs' season was ended last weekend in a 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace, while the Blues' lone blemish was a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Liverpool in which they played the second half down to 10 men.

How will this all-London clash play out? Read on for our free Premier League betting picks and predictions for Tottenham vs. Chelsea on September 19.

Spurs vs Chelsea predictions

Side pick

Spurs' perfect start to the new season seemed to be misleading and that was confirmed a week ago at Selhurst Park as they lost 3-0 to relegation candidates Crystal Palace. They barely mustered a look at goal in that game, finishing with 0.1 expected goals, and that has been a theme throughout this young season. Even in their three wins out of the gate, they had been out-created in xG, with 3.9 expected goals against compared to 3.7 xG.

Reality will continue to set in for Tottenham, as they host Chelsea just three days after traveling to France for a Europa League Conference game against Rennes. The quick turnaround from European games on Thursday to Premier League on the weekend is hard on teams, and especially so for a relatively thin squad like Spurs. Worsening matters for Tottenham is the state of their squad, as key players in defense, midfield, and attack are all doubtful ahead of this weekend for various reasons.

The same can't be said, in any regard, for Chelsea. The Blues have reaffirmed their title contender bona fides with 10 points from four games and have only been outplayed after a harsh red card to Reece James against Liverpool. They boast tremendous squad depth up-and-down the pitch and are unbothered by Champions League fixtures, the first of which was played at home on Tuesday — giving them plenty of recovery time.

Chelsea were untested by Spurs last season, winning 1-0 away and playing to a 0-0 draw at home (that was a very different Chelsea team still under Frank Lampard) while winning the xG battle over those two matches 3.2 to 0.5. This Chelsea team has already proven to be title contenders and will not find much resistance from Tottenham.

PICK: Chelsea (-156)

Goalscorer pick

For as convincing as Chelsea's form was to end last season, topped off with a Champions League triumph, it would have been difficult to peg them as genuine title contenders had they not improved their striker situation. However, with the addition of Romelu Lukaku, they have improved it about as well as possible. Since initially leaving Chelsea, Lukaku has rounded into one of the world's best No. 9s, a brilliant combination of power, technical ability, and intelligence.

Lukaku has rewarded Chelsea early in his second stint in blue, with four goals in four games across competitions, including three in the Premier League. Between the ability of Kai Havertz and Chelsea attackers to drive the ball forward and play it into dangerous areas, and Lukaku's ability to make runs into space otherwise unseen, it's a marriage that will lead to consistent production.

That production won't halt in North London this weekend, where Lukaku will find himself against a severely undermanned Tottenham backline. Spurs' defenders don't have the capacity, physically or technically, to compete with Lukaku, and they will not stop him from scoring a fifth goal for Chelsea since returning.

PICK: Romelu Lukaku - Anytime goalscorer (+100)
