Chelsea vs Palmeiras picks and predictions

My Chelsea vs Palmeiras best bet: Chelsea to win (+105 at bet365)

The FIFA Club World Cup has really opened up with the elimination of Man City and Inter Milan in the past few days, both teams who were on this side of the draw, meaning either Palmeiras or Chelsea face an attractive semifinal against Al-Hilal or Fluminense.

While Palmeiras are unbeaten and have conceded just two goals in four games, it’s unlikely to be them, with Chelsea a clear level above any of the opposition that they’ve faced so far.

This is an expensively-assembled squad that the Londoners have built, as evidenced by the arrival in the U.S. of Joao Pedro, signed from Brighton and having linked up with his new team in advance of this game.

Chelsea have found form in their past two games, scoring seven times. That’s thanks in part to the physical presence offered by Liam Delap up front plus the ascending Pedro Neto and the captain, Reece James, who looks back at his brilliant best.

Palmeiras squeezed past Botafogo in extra time of their Round of 16 game but never looked overly convincing and played on the counter a lot of the time. They’ll try to do that again against the Blues, but this team are stronger, faster and more experienced and will come out on top.

Chelsea to win

Pedro Neto to score

Estevao 1+ shots on target

Pedro Neto scored just six goals for Chelsea all season but has found form in the USA, scoring in each of his three appearances in the Club World Cup so far.

Estevao will actually move from Palmeiras to Chelsea after the tournament, and he’ll want to show his new club what he offers. He’s had eight shots on four games at the competition so far and got a shot on target last time out.
