Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are set to hit AT&T Stadium on Sunday as they look to bounce back from a tough prime-time loss last week.
With Daniels facing a Dallas Cowboys defense that has generated surprising pressure, this NFC East showdown points to Washington’s star quarterback flashing his dual-threat skills inside Jerry World.
Let’s dive into the Jayden Daniels odds as I dish out my best prop picks for Commanders vs. Cowboys on October 19.
Jayden Daniels prop pick
Jayden Daniels best bet: Over 45.5 rushing yards (-114 at FanDuel)
The Dallas Cowboys’ defense may rank among the worst in football right now, but it’s not for a lack of effort up front. In fact, Dallas has gotten to the quarterback enough to rank 10th in pressure rate, meaning Jayden Daniels is unlikely to operate with a clean pocket in this one.
Dallas’ pass rush ranks a modest 15th according to Pro Football Focus, and as it applies pressure on the quarterback, it’s given up 153 rushing yards in total to the position to sit as the ninth-most generous.
That leads me to Daniels’ rushing total, which is set at a friendly 45.5 yards. He has carried at least seven times in every game, coming off a performance where he rushed 10 times for 52 yards, and through it all has averaged 4.9 yards per carry to keep his momentum going following a strong rookie year.
Daniels rushed for over 100 yards in his two games against Dallas last season, and with plenty of pass rushers getting into the backfield, I expect the second-year signal-caller to be on his feet for much of this one and looking to move the ball downfield with his own two legs.
Jayden Daniels same-game parlay
Jayden Daniels Over 45.5 rushing yards
Jayden Daniels Over 223.5 passing yards
Zach Ertz 6+ receptions
Dallas has given up 28 passing attempts of at least 20 yards and has allowed a league-high 15 completions on these deep balls, so I’m not sure there’s a reason we can’t also play Daniels to throw for plenty of yards.
He did go for 275 yards on this Dallas secondary last year in the only complete game he’d play against it, and Dallas allowed a league-high 269.5 passing yards per game on 8.2 yards per attempt.
We also have to go back to the well here with Zach Ertz, who re-emerged as a top option for this team following the return of Daniels. He hauled in six passes last week and will look to attack a weak Dallas defense, which has ranked just outside the bottom 10 against opposing tight ends.
