HR Prop #1: Manny Machado
The San Diego Padres face New York Mets right-hander Clay Holmes tonight. That’s never an easy matchup for any lineup, but Manny Machado is one hitter who has enjoyed himself against the former Yankee in the past.
Machado is 3-for-5 lifetime vs. Holmes. The slugger has 25 bombs on the year, and has also gone deep in two straight contests, both against the Colorado Rockies over the weekend.
The 33-year-old has 14 round-trippers off right-handed pitchers as well.
HR Prop #2: Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez continues to rake for the Seattle Mariners, who are looking like a scary team with the playoffs around the corner. He’s cracked 45 home runs, and I’m eyeing him to smack No. 46 tonight. The M’s face Michael Wacha of the Kansas City Royals, who returns from a brief stint on the IL.
Suarez has dominated Wacha in the past. He’s 17-for-38 with two home runs. Perhaps the power numbers aren’t huge in this matchup, but he’s batting nearly .500 against the righty. That’s absurd.
Wacha has allowed 10 of his 13 bombs this year to right-handed batters as well, and Suarez has already gone deep three times in September.
HR Prop #3: Teoscar Hernandez
The most intriguing matchup for our MLB picks sees the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies clash, especially due to the matchup on the mound as Cristopher Sanchez faces Shohei Ohtani. Sanchez may be a tough pitcher for any hitter to face, but Hernandez will be looking forward to this one.
He’s 5-for-9 against the left-hander with a pair of home runs. Hernandez is now up to 24 long balls in 2025, and he’s smacked six off southpaws. The veteran has three homers in September while batting .280.
His power shows up a lot more at home, too. Hernandez has put 16 in the bleachers at Dodger Stadium compared to just eight on the road.
