At the moment, Ontario is Canada’s only regulated market, with Alberta soon to join, with its anticipated launch on July 13. In the meantime, Ontario continues to be Canada’s largest regulated online gaming market.
For March, the province’s online gambling regulator, iGaming Ontario, announced that its monthly handle reached $9.59 billion, beating January’s record of $9.52 billion. Non-adjusted gross gaming revenue was also up, generating a 13% monthly rise to $387 million.
Ontario online casinos are constantly growing, with 44 operators and 76 gaming websites currently operating in the province.

Ontario enforcement keeps pressure on game suppliers
While Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow, the province’s gambling regulator, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), has also fined two gaming suppliers earlier this month.
The AGCO issued fines of $40,000 each to Arrise Solutions Limited and Relax Gaming Limited. The regulator said its investigation found that games made by the two suppliers were also available on unauthorized websites accessible to Ontario players.
Both companies are registered in Ontario to develop and supply casino games for the province's regulated market.
The enforcement action did not allege that the companies operated the unregulated sites. The regulator's concern was focused on supply-chain exposure. Under Ontario rules, companies active in the regulated iGaming market cannot provide products to unauthorized gambling websites available in the province.
The AGCO said such a supply can help sustain illegal operators and weaken consumer protections.
After being contacted by the AGCO, the suppliers cooperated and began restricting Ontario access to their games on those sites. The regulator said it continues to monitor whether registered companies are supplying the unregulated sector.
