Many sportsbooks open with Seattle as favorites to back-to-back, while one sportsbook has its division rival leading the way.

The Seattle Seahawks dominated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, and sportsbooks expect another NFC West team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next year.

The Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams lead the way in way-too-early odds to win Super Bowl LXI.

Key Takeaways

  • Caesars has the Rams favored over the Seahawks.

  • The Cincinnati Bengals gained more ground than any team at theScore Bet.

  • 17 of the last 18 quarterbacks that lost their Super Bowl debut never returned to the stage.

Just minutes after the final seconds ticked off the clock in Super Bowl LX, BetMGM’s John Ewing posted on X that the Seahawks were early favorites to win the 2027 Super Bowl. The Rams, who they defeated in the NFC Championship Game, were just behind, while there were six teams in front of the Patriots.

Caesars didn’t share that perspective. Their odds opened with the Rams, whose home SoFi Stadium will host Super Bowl LXI, at +900, followed by the Buffalo Bills and Seahawks at +1,000. They were also the only sportsbook of the three that had the San Francisco 49ers in the top 10.

theScore Bet opened with the Seahawks as the standalone favorites at +800. They were quickly caught by the Rams, who matched them at +800.

FanDuel has the shortest odds for the newly crowned champs. Their +750 Super Bowl odds carry an 11.8% implied probability.

There have only been nine repeat champions in NFL history. The most recent of those, the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowls LVII (2022) and LVIII (2023), was the only team to accomplish the feat since 2005.

Super Bowl odds movement

As the way-too-early Super Bowl odds continue to evolve, theScore Bet reported heavy interest in several teams.

The Seahawks dominated early betting, claiming 21.2% of bets and 33.8% of the Super Bowl futures handle. The Patriots were next with 10.3% of bets and 13.9% of the handle.

The only team with more tickets than the Patriots was the Rams; however, they were only responsible for 3.1% of the money.

The Chicago Bears were also a popular pick, with 7.9% of wagers and 10.3% of the handle. The New York Giants, who just went 4-13, also claimed 3.8% of bets and 4.5% of the handle.

Public bettors influenced odds for several teams, but none more so than the Cincinnati Bengals (2.2% of bets, 4.3% of the handle). They quickly dropped from +3,500 at opening to +2,500, leaving them level with the Bears.

The Detroit Lions (4.6% of bets, 4.4% of the handle) also moved from +1,800 to +1,500, while the Pats ticked down from +1,600 to +1,500.

Are Drake Maye and the Patriots done?

If history is any indication, the Seahawks are in a strong spot, while the Patriots might be in trouble.

Thirteen quarterbacks have won more than one Super Bowl during their career. Conversely, 17 of the last 18 quarterbacks who lost their first Super Bowl never returned to the NFL’s biggest stage.

The only exception was Jalen Hurts, who won Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles after losing Super Bowl LVII.
