Off-Strip casino venue Rio Hotel & Casino is relaunching its player rewards program as part of a $350 million property-wide transformation.

Now under Dreamscape Companies' management, the reimagined Rio Rewards program includes new sign-up bonuses, tier matching, and a slate of weekly promotions designed to attract both loyal and new players.

Key takeaways

  • Rio Las Vegas relaunched its rewards program in an ongoing $350 million transformation.
  • The rewards are the latest in Rio’s ‘Icon Reborn’ redevelopment.
  • It comes off the back of other Las Vegas updated rewards at the STRAT and Fontainebleau.

As per the new rewards rollout, new members receive $35 worth of free play for signing up, with a chance to win up to $1,000 in extra free play within the first 48 hours. Those who earn 2,000 points during that window also get two complimentary tickets to one of Rio’s live shows: Penn & Teller, or Comedy Cellar. Current members can also earn bonuses by referring a friend.

The relaunch of a Las Vegas icon

The revamp follows a significant update to Rio’s 117,000-square-foot casino floor, which now features nearly 800 slot machines, 40 table games with $10 minimums, and an updated baccarat room.

Dreamscape officially took over operations in October 2023, four years after purchasing the property for $516.3 million. In May last year, the company appointed Vegas native Patrick Miller as CEO, pledging to restore Rio’s status as a Sin City icon.

Speaking about the new-look venue, Grant Rogers, Vice President of Casino Operations, said it was a significant time in Rio's history.

“The newly reimagined casino floor represents an exciting milestone in Rio’s ongoing transformation. With low table minimums, generous rewards, and a vibrant atmosphere, we’re bringing back the spirit of classic Vegas, refreshed for today’s guest,” Rogers said.

Additional visitor perks reportedly include point multipliers on Thursdays, complimentary alcohol on Wednesdays, and free access to Ipanema Beach Club for all rewards members.

Fontainebleau rolls out slot-friendly rewards changes

While the Rio goes through a relaunch, the recently opened Fontainebleau Las Vegas is boosting its appeal to slot players with several enhancements to its Rewards program.

Key changes include improved point earning on one point slots for every $2.50 played and a new cash-back promotion that lets players convert 5,000 points into $20 in cash.

According to Fontainebleau, new members also get $10 in free slot play at signup, with up to $1,000 more available after earning 500 points. Extra perks include money off rooms, cash back at some on-site bars and restaurants, and complimentary parking.

STRAT launches perks for residents

Finally, Vegas residents can benefit from one of the latest casino rewards schemes.

North Strip property The STRAT, soon home to the Las Vegas ‘Top Gun’ experience, unveiled a locals-only loyalty program called True Locals, which offers exclusive discounts and transportation perks for residents within 50 miles of the city.

The program's benefits include discounts on shows and attractions, free self-parking, Lyft credits, and valet services. However, anyone wanting to take advantage of the program must enroll in Golden Entertainment’s True Rewards program and provide proof of local residency.
