PrizePicks is giving its customers a new way out.
Key Takeaways
- PrizePicks users can assess their lineups in real time and make a strategic decision.
- This feature is more extensive than what some other DFS operators are offering.
- PrizePicks has had a busy fall with product releases and news.
The popular daily fantasy operator announced Tuesday its new early exit feature. Customers can now get paid out on a lineup that hasn’t been fully completed. The feature applies to select sports and stat types.
“The new feature gives players a chance to guarantee a payout while the games are still going, or call it quits on a busted Lineup before it goes to zero,” PrizePicks said in an official release about the product addition.
The new feature allows users to be more strategic, avoid risking a last pick or two, or get paid early to create a new lineup.
“Now, players can keep an eye on their early exit value and get paid without needing to sweat the full slate,” the company said. “This gives players the power to make real-time decisions based on performance and momentum.”
How it works
The ability to exit a contest early begins once two or more players in an eligible lineup have begun playing. The value of the early exit is adjusted throughout the games in real time.
“A new Pulse tab within the PrizePicks app lets players track their potential payout in real time with a dynamic progress graph that updates as the action unfolds,” the company said.
PrizePicks players can access the early exit feature by going into their live lineup and swiping “Early Payout.” The contest will be settled, and the funds will immediately go into the user’s account.
Sizing up the competition
PrizePicks’ early exit feature is more extensive than many of its competitors'. Underdog allows for an early cash-out on its “Streaks” games only. It does not apply to other contests, including pick’ems.
DraftKings Pick6 doesn’t offer a way to get paid out before a contest ends, but, similar to its sports betting product, there is a “Pardon” feature that users can access to help when players get injured. FanDuel’s fantasy product doesn’t allow for an early exit.
Busy time
This is the latest feature release in a recent trend of PrizePicks news. The operator launched “The Feed” earlier this football season, giving users a social media-like feel to their app and the ability to quickly use other people’s lineups in contests.
PrizePicks received a DFS license to operate in New York last month and federal approval in September to offer prediction markets. The company has not released a timeline for a trading exchange launch.
The DFS operator has been moving toward a more entertainment-based product, not just sports, and the recent majority acquisition of PrizePicks by lottery gaming company Allwyn is expected to help fund innovation and expansion.
