The Keystone State’s gross revenue from sports betting more than doubled year-over-year in June.
Key takeaways
- Pennsylvania sports betting operators enjoyed a massive 13.8% hold.
- Fiscal-year handle and gross revenue rose from the previous period.
- FanDuel posted another impressive profit month.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board recently reported online and retail sportsbooks generated $66.8 million in profits, a 51.8% increase from June 2024. $51.2 million in taxable revenue had an even bigger 71.4% year-over-year leap.
All that operator winning led to $17.4 million in tax income for the Keystone State.
Pennsylvania sports betting operators dominated bettors behind a massive 13.8% hold on June’s $483.6 million handle. It was a huge win for the books in a month with the NBA and NHL Finals as well as heavy MLB volume.
Handle was up a milder 4.1% from the same month in 2024, the lightest amount wagered since August 2024. More than $460 million of June’s total handle came from online sports betting. Retail books took in around $23 million.
Finishing up a fiscal year
Pennsylvania wrapped up its 2024-25 fiscal year with June’s totals. Sports betting generated $8.72 billion in wagers over the last 12 months, including $8.29 billion from online sportsbooks. The total FY handle was up nearly 7% from the previous period.
Operators hauled in $774.9 million in gross revenue, an 11.6% year-over-year increase, and $487.6 million in taxable income produced $165.8 million for the Keystone State.
