Ontario’s iGaming market suffered a month-over-month wagering decrease in February for the first time since June 2025.
Key Takeaways
- Ontario iGaming was coming off its largest monthly handle ever.
- Profits decreased 15% during February.
- Sports wagering during the Super Bowl month was up year-over-year, but revenue was nearly the same.
Ontario online casinos, sports betting operators, and poker sites combined to generate $8.73 billion in cash wagers, an 8% month-over-month dip, according to Ontario iGaming’s monthly report. February produced Ontario’s lowest handle since September 2025.
iGaming was coming off its largest handle ever in January, so it was going to be hard to match or surpass the $9.5 billion wagered to start 2026.
Still, less February betting also meant less dollars for operators. Non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) of $342.4 million was down a more significant 15% from January’s $401.5 million. It’s the largest month-over-month profit dip since February 2025.
Active player accounts of 1,289 dropped 2% for the second time in three months. The average wager per account fell from $303 to $264.

Not so Super
The month containing the Super Bowl didn’t produce a revenue increase. Sports betting operators hauled in $61.3 million, which was down 29% from January’s gross profits of $86.7 million. Wagering fell by 20% month-over-month to $946 million.
However, the sports betting handle increased 1.6% from the same month in 2025, while revenue remained stagnant after the Seattle Seahawks won and covered against the New England Patriots, 29-13, in Super Bowl LX.
Casino, poker figures
Online casinos accounted for $7.65 billion of Ontario’s total cash wagers, but the 6% month-over-month drop was the biggest since an 8% dip in June 2025. The February handle was up 26% year-over-year.
NAGGR suffered an 11% dip, falling from January’s $308.9 million to $275.7 million in February, despite an 81% market share on profits. However, revenue was up 29% compared to February 2025.
Poker generated $135 million in February, a 14% decrease from January, while the $5.4 million in gross revenue was down from the previous month’s $5.9 million.
