Despite a 6% week-over-week decline in handle, New York online sportsbooks generated their highest gross revenue of the NFL season.
- New York operators fall short of a double-digit hold again.
- The weekly handle excludes wagers placed on Monday’s Bills-Rams game.
- FanDuel kept 9% of over $200 million in wagers.
The New York State Gaming Commission reported on Friday that eight mobile operators won back $52.1 million of a $581.2-million handle during the NFL’s Week 5. The period that ended Oct. 11 also featured a full slate of college football and the second round of the MLB postseason.
The latest gross revenue haul was up 6.1% from the previous week and a significant increase from the $30.2 million generated during the same period last year. Operators still fell short of the first double-digit hold of the fall, but the 9% win rate was up over a point from the previous week.
The latest handle failed to reach $600 million in consecutive weeks and fell by more than $9 million year over year, but there was one less game played in the NFL, as the Chiefs and Panthers were on a bye. The amount wagered for the week also didn’t take into account the full betting picture for last Monday’s Bills-Rams showdown.
FanDuel, DraftKings surpass $200M
FanDuel continued its streak of five consecutive $200-million handles and led all New York sports betting operators with $209 million in handle, good for a 9.1% hold. The operator won $19.1 million, dipping below $20 million in gross revenue for the first time in three weeks.
DraftKings wasn’t far behind in handle, generating $203 million in wagers. The online operator also used a 9.2% win rate to keep $18.6 million in gross revenue, DraftKings’ best week of the NFL season.
