New York’s eight online sports betting operators came up short of a $500-million handle during a busy sports week, but gross revenue remained above $50 million for the second consecutive period.
Key Takeaways
- New York’s sports betting week was highlighted by the NCAA title game, the Masters, and the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons.
- Operators have failed to generate $500-million handles in two of the last three weeks.
- FanDuel, BetRivers, and BetMGM produced double-digit holds.
The New York Gaming Commission reported on Friday that operators hauled in $54.4 million during the week ending April 12 thanks to an 11% hold on a $492-million handle. After generating over $500 million four times in six weeks, online sportsbooks have now dipped below that mark in two of the last three periods.
The latest handle was down 3.8% from the previous week. Still, wagering was up 3.7% from the same week last year, during a period that included the NCAA championship game. Michigan failed to cover the spread as the favorite, but the Wolverines won the title. Operators also relied on the Masters, and the final week of the NBA and NHL regular seasons, as well as MLB, to generate the increased action.
New York sports betting's online operators have made over $110 million over the last two weeks behind back-to-back 11% holds, and the latest period’s gross revenue was nearly 14% higher than the same week in 2025.

Leading the state
FanDuel led all online operators during the week ending April 12 with a $170.2-million handle, which was down about $4 million from the previous week. The sportsbook still made $23.4 million, down less than a $1 million from last week, off of a 13.8% hold.
DraftKings wasn’t far behind in wagering, generating $168.3 million in bets. However, the online operator won back just under 10% to finish with $16.8 million in gross revenue.
Combined, New York’s two market-share leaders accounted for 68.8% of the entire state’s handle and 74% of the total gross revenue.
Hold competition
Fanatics finished third for the week with $62.6 million in wagers and gross revenue of $5.7 million, while BetMGM’s 10.3% hold on a $35.2-million handle was only the operator’s second weekly double-digit win rate of 2026.
Caesars won back 9.2% on a $33.1-million handle. BetRivers had the second-best hold at 10.9%, claiming over $1 million in gross revenue on a $9.3-million handle, and while theScore Bet generated over $300,000 more in dollars wagered, the operator produced a state-low 4.9% for the week. Bally Bet won back a modest 7.4% on a $3.5-million handle.
