Fanatics Markets drops World Cup Hub
Fanatics has quickly proven itself in the world of sports betting as one of the fastest-rising sportsbooks. It is attempting to replicate that success with its prediction platform, which launched in December of last year.
“Fanatics has been building something unique; direct relationships with tens of millions of fans, across every team, every sport, every moment that matters to them,” said Matt King, CEO of Fanatics Betting & Gaming. “When ADI Predictstreet was looking for a U.S. partner, it was a natural conversation given the scale of our reach to fans."
“We are excited to bring that experience to Americans this summer. The World Cup Hub gives fans a more immersive way to follow the tournament in real time, combining content, data and prediction markets all in one experience."
Prediction markets made waves across America over the last year, particularly with their sports event contracts. These are yes and no options related to sports outcomes that consumers buy and either win or lose money from based on the accuracy of their prediction.
For example, a World Cup prediction market might ask which country will win the upcoming tournament. Using data from Fanatics Markets, current at the time of writing, users could purchase a contract for France to win the event for $.18 each.
A customer would be able to purchase 58.8 contracts for $10 at this price. They would receive $58.80 payout — $1 for each winning contract — if France won and $0 if they lost.
Conversely, users could also purchase contracts for France or any other nation to lose the tournament. One contract for France to lose would cost $.84 and would also pay $1 per winning contract.

The World Cup begins on June 11 when one of the three host nations, Mexico, battles South Africa in Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The tournament will run through July 19, when the final will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
Fanatics Markets lists France and Spain as the outright leaders to win the tournament at 18% probability each. England (13%) leads the chasing pack, followed by defending champion Argentina (12%) and both Portugal and Brazil (11%).
