DraftKings is bringing back a popular NBA promotion with a massive prize pool for opening night.
Key Takeaways

- Opening night’s contest comes with a $2-million prize pool.
- DraftKings customers must opt in to be eligible.
Every Tuesday, the online sportsbook is offering customers a chance to split $1 million with “King of the Court,” a promotion that gives bettors something else to root for and highlights the NBA’s leader in points, rebounds, and assists that day.

DraftKings, which introduced the promotion last season, is upping the prize pool to $2 million for the first Tuesday of the regular season on Oct. 21, which features Rockets-Thunder and Warriors-Lakers on opening night.
The following Tuesday offers five regular-season games, spreading out the number of betting options and potentially earning participants more bonus bets.
How to play
Users must opt in to the promotion to be eligible. When the customer goes to place a qualifying player prop wager of $5 or more, they must use the “King of the Court” token to be eligible for the prize pool. The bet doesn’t have to win to have a shot at the promotion’s payout.
If the bet-on player puts up the most combined stats in those three categories, DraftKings will send bonus bets to all the participating winners the next day.
It’s a hit
DraftKings ran the “Kings of the Court” promotion last year on select game days. The online operator did “Queens of the Court” during the WNBA season.
To kick off the NFL last month, DraftKings gave bettors a chance to keep multi-leg bets alive during the first two weeks of the season with the “Ghost Leg Parlay” promotion. In Week 1, the online operator said 160,500 customers avoided losses. They had one leg miss on a parlay of at least three legs but still received payment based on the odds of the remaining legs.
