Leading sports betting operator DraftKings confirmed in a Monday announcement its plans to launch in Missouri on Dec. 1, the first day of legal sports betting in the Show-Me State.

DraftKings was granted a temporary sports betting operator’s license earlier this year, allowing it to operate without securing a land-based partner.

Key Takeaways

  • Missouri will become DraftKings’ 29th jurisdiction of operation.

  • 9 entities were approved for the Dec. 1 sports betting launch.

  • DraftKings will host sports legends for a celebratory launch event next Monday.

DraftKings is bringing one of the largest consumer bases in American sports betting to Missouri, which will start writing its sports betting chapter next Monday.

Missouri will be DraftKings’ 29th legal jurisdiction for sports bettors. The company has also been an official betting partner of the Kansas City Chiefs since 2022 and recently secured the title of the official sports betting and daily fantasy sports operator of the St. Louis Blues.

“DraftKings is built for passionate sports fans, making Missouri an exciting jurisdiction for us to enter with its rich sports culture, and several professional teams across the state,” said DraftKings’ chief revenue officer Greg Karamitis. “This is an incredible time of year for sports fans with NFL, NBA, NHL, college football, and college basketball all in-season, and we look forward to elevating the experience for Missouri sports fans, responsibly, with our top-rated online sportsbook.”

DraftKings’ impending launch will bring the full complement of its sportsbook. That includes traditional betting markets, prop betting odds, parlay and same-game parlay options, rewards, promotions, and more.

DraftKings is offering new Missouri customers a welcome bonus via a DraftKings Missouri promo code. New customers who sign up prior to launch day will receive up to $300 in bonus bets when Missouri sports betting goes live on Dec. 1.

Customers will also have access to responsible gambling tools and resources, such as My Stat Sheet, a personalized gaming activity tracker, and My Budget Builder, which helps set deposit and wagering limits.

A celebratory beginning

In celebration of the upcoming DraftKings Missouri sports betting launch, the sports betting giant will host a commemorative first bet event featuring local sporting legends Tony Gonzalez, Isaac Bruce, and Brett Hull.

Missouri House Speaker Jonathan Patterson will also deliver remarks at the event.

DraftKings is donating $50,000 to the Veterans Community Project, a group focused on fighting veteran homelessness in Missouri, delivering on a promise to support the communities in which it operates.

The DraftKings sportsbook Missouri app is already available for download via mobile app. Customers can pre-register their accounts and make deposits, although they cannot place wagers until the official launch next Monday.

DraftKings starts off hot

Although Missouri sports betting hasn’t quite begun, DraftKings already scored a major victory in the state market.

The company was one of two to receive an untethered sports betting operator’s license, meaning that it did not need to operate through a partnership with a land-based casino or local professional sports team. Essentially, DraftKings does not have to split its profits with a market-access partner.

DraftKings was also one of nine total entities to receive a temporary operator’s license, approving them for the Dec. 1 launch.
