Horse racing fans and sports bettors in three states will now have a new way to wager on the 150th edition of The Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday.

Caesars Sportsbook announced Thursday that pari-mutuel horse racing has been added to its mobile app in Maryland, New York, Ohio. Customers in those states can access the racebook – powered by NYRA Bets – through the sportsbook.

Key Takeaways

  • Caesars Sportsbook adds pari-mutuel racing to their app in three more states: MD, NY, and OH.
  • App is live, so bettors can even wager on Friday's card, highlighted by The Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.
  • Five states (CO, KY, MD, NY, and OH) now have pari-mutuel horse racing available on Caesars Sportsbook.

Last month, Caesars integrated pari-mutuel horse race wagering into the Caesars Sportsbook app in Kentucky, ahead of the Kentucky Derby, and Colorado.

“Integrating pari-mutuel horse racing into the Caesars Sportsbook app is a significant milestone for both our digital business and the sport of horse racing,” said Dan Shapiro, senior vice president and chief development officer at Caesars Digital in a news release.

“Our customers will be able to bet on horse racing, whether it’s the sport’s biggest events or daily races from tracks around the world. Now, our product seamlessly puts the action directly in front of an expanded audience and reinforces Caesars’ commitment to horse racing.”

Odds and available states

Preakness Stakes odds vary by sportsbook, but Kentucky Derby second choice morning-line favorite and second-place finisher Journalism (8-5) is now the morning-line favorite for Saturday's 13th race of 14.

Sandman is the second choice at 4-1, with River Thames the third choice at 9-2.

Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty won by 1 1/2 lengths over Journalism on May 3, but will not run on Saturday, choosing to run in The Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, June 7.

Anyone 21 or older who wants to bet on the Preakness can download the Caesars Racebook in 20 states, including California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Caesars Sportsbook is available in 11 additional states: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Tennessee.

Last year, Seize the Grey won the Preakness, edging out Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan.
