Bet99, a legal sports betting operator out of Canada, has chosen GeoComply to supply geolocation services for Ontario's newly regulated market.

“We are excited to partner with GeoComply,” said BET99’s Chief Technology Officer Paul Nyzuk. “They have more experience than any other geolocation provider and a commitment to innovation, as evidenced by GeoComply’s new No-Download Browser Solution. Our priority is ensuring the best player experience while achieving the highest standards in compliance.”

GeoComply’s No-Download Browser Solution was developed expressly for the Ontario market and can help detect spoofing devices, account takeovers, and bonus abuse. It also allows mobile and desktop users to verify their location without having to leave the page or download a separate app or plugin.

“We are thrilled that BET99 has adopted our new technology, which makes geolocation compliance easier than ever for players and easier than ever for BET99 to integrate, helping to keep them compliant, profitable, and safe," added GeoComply Senior Vice President Lindsay Slader.

In August, the online sportsbook and casino brand partnered with Simplebet, providing Canadians with new microbetting options. Last month, BET99 launched its new app, providing access to more than 75,000 pre-match events and an additional 58,000-plus live sporting events each month.

More than just compliance

GeoComply is one of the market leaders in geolocation. Its online sportsbook customers include BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel. In fact, GeoComply has so many customers using its geolocation services that the company’s data can actually help identify major industry trends.

GeoComply’s data is often used to detect trends in major events, such as the year-over-year growth in Super Bowl betting. GeoComply’s data can also help estimate the amount of money lost by jurisdictions without legal sports betting.

Each instance of a failure to validate one's location within a lawful jurisdiction represents a potential bettor who would have been inclined to place a legal bet if the opportunity had been accessible. Unable to place a legal bet, a bettor may be tempted or misled into wagering on illegal and unregulated websites. Recently, GeoComply estimated that six US states that don’t currently offer a legal betting option have lost out on roughly $320 million in tax revenue.

GeoComply’s data can also measure the strength of new market launches. For instance, GeoComply detected a huge spike in Kentucky the day the state launched online sports betting. The same was true when Massachusetts launched its online betting sites

With the addition of BET99, GeoComply will have even more access to Canada’s all-important Ontario market data, while Ontario — and BET99 customers — will get a safer and more compliant operator.
