Oeiras
Moyuka Uchijima 2-0 (-105)
After an 0-2 start I wasn't going to post more this week but there are a couple plays that really stick out to me today. Since I'm cold maybe tread lightly or fade if that's your kind of thing.
Rouen
Jaqueline Cristian (+121)
I just can't resist at this price. On their best days Cristian is without a doubt a better player on clay than Boulter. That being said, while Cristian had an excellent hard season by her standards she has looked pretty bad in her first two clay matches of the year. But yesterday she showed a lot of fight and resilience to get past a peaking TSRR and my hope is that she's finally getting her clay legs under her. Yesterday she was down a set and a break and saved 4 match points before coming back to take the 2nd in a tiebreak. Then she quickly went down 0-4 in the third but clawed her way back winning 7 of the next 8 games to take it 7-5. If she was lacking confidence or momentum coming in that should definitely no longer be an issue.
Stuttgart
Jelena Ostapenko (+221)
So the lesser angle here is the potential post-title letdown spot for Mirra. Not a guarantee but it's possible. The more important angle is with Ostapenko. Last year she had two good tournament runs- the first in Doha where she made the final and then here where she beat Iga, Alex, and Sabs en route to the title. So far this year she has one good run- the Doha semis. Ostapenko thrives on confidence and she tends to bring it when she's playing at a venue that provides her that confidence. The way she bossed the two best clay players in the world last year should have her walking in like she owns the place. First matchup between these two and there's always the possibility that Penko could get under the youngster's skin and we all know how that could turn out. Also since the beginning of last year she has a 6-2 record against top 10 players.
