venus looks may be ok with her serve , i dont see venus going too far.
technically, she might be still one of the best but i think , she will be upset before the quarters. i am not saying anything special here
this year in other slams she did not make further than quarters, i dont see why she will do better this time of the year
ok serena is out and its us open, anyway venus won couple of timeshere but longtime ago , anyway .

Thanks guys, 2 dogs hit, Tipsy hit at evens on taking a set, should have played him straight up as well.  It was a very good game, excellent tennis to watch.  The parlay hit as well but Oudin didn't show the determination I thought she would and X Man failed to get it done vs Dudi, a very profitable day nonetheless.  On to Thursday's action, best of luck to all.  Peace - - - MAK

    Thursday, September 2nd (U.S Open Day 4)

KEVIN ANDERSON (-155) - - - Kevin Anderson is an up and coming youngster.  He is stating to play some consistent, confident tennis and results are forthcoming.  I do like Bellucci's game somewhat but Kevin has raw form and potential that far exceeds Bellucci.  Since the summer hard tour began Bellucci has only played 5 games on the surface.  Losing all but one to Becker and one to the wild card in round one of the U.S Open...nothing impressive at all.  Kevin on the other hand has played a total of 14 hard court games this summer.  He has impressive wins over Tipsy, Mayer, Querrey and destroyed Lukas Lacko the same Lacko who owned Bellucci last week in New Haven.  Kevin's last two matches were against Nadal in the Toronto round of 16 where he fought a good battle.  He then opened up his U.S Open run with a straight sets slapping of Somdev.  In Bellucci's last 50 hard court matches he has lost half of his games while Kevin has gone a solid 36-14.  Kevin has won 5 in a row when favored at this price and I think the price is right.
    2 UNITS - - -

JURGEN MELZER (-260) - - - I understand that Melzer has had some questionable performances as of late but this line is off in my opinion.  Berankis has not been as impressive as most think, there is nothing impressive about this player or his career results.  Melzer is another level, Berankis has only beaten 2 players ranked in the top 100 in his entire career! Melzer has defeated 45 top 100 ranked players in the past year alone!  Not on the same level guys.  Melzer is 9-3 in his last 12 grand slam matches.  He steps it up for majors, he went deep in the semis at the french this year and deep in Wimbledon as well.  He is 12-4 this year in 5 setters and despite his dismal performance in round one I think he steps through with ease today.
    2 UNITS - - -

MARIN CILIC (-345) - - - I was close to actually going with Nishikori to take at least 1 set and may still add that.  Marin should win this game regardless.  Going with the safer play as I think Cilic would have to play a terrible match in order to lose this one.  I don't see it happening.  Cilic always steps it up for slams.  He is 35-15 in his last 50 grand slam matches including 9-3 this year with some deep runs at the Australian (losing in the semis ro Murray), and the French Open (losing to Sod in the round of 16).  His U.S Open run last year was brilliant defeating Andy Murray to get to the quarter finals eventually losing to Juan Martin Del Porto the eventual champ.  He has made it past the 2nd round of a hard court major 5 times in a row.  I do not see him faltering in round two here at the U.S Open.
    2 UNITS - - -

RICARDO MELLO TO TAKE AT LEAST A SET (+100) - - -  I think Mello has a chance to cash as a +400 straight up dog but I will take my chances on him taking at least a set from JCF who has not had a lot of hard court time recently.  Mello cashed for me on day one, if you want some stats on him take a look at the day one writeup, he is a hard court specialist, I am going with the Brazilian brick again.
    2 UNITS - - -

KATERYN BONDARENKO (-115) - - - The last 2 times I have watched this girl, I have been amazed.  She really has ability and her confidence never sways.  She fought a tough 3 set thriller vs Dementieva in New Haven and looked amazing.  She ends up losing to Elena but prior to that game she had knocked off 31st ranked Kvitova in straight sets.  Her first round match up was against Li Na who is a grand slam specialist.  Li Na always steps up her game for slams and she did that coming out and winning the first set.  Bondarenko didn't back down and continued to fight.  It seemed like she saved important break point opportunities and never looked flustered.  Neither lady has been all that successful this past year but Kat's recent form and the success showed hanging with two top 10 players like that got my confidence.  In the past year Bond has taken out 3 top 10 players in Venus Williams, Elena and Li Na.  Cibulkova has no top guns on her list this year, she struggled to get past Voegle in the first round and will struggle to hang with a confident Kat.
    1.5 UNITS - - -

ANDREA PETKOVIC (+100) - - - I like Sands.  She is feisty and gritty and is in decent form.  Petkovic in my opinion, is just a better overall player.  When Petkovic is mentally in the game she is deadly.  She could have breezed past Petrova, was up a set and a break but allowed Petrova to stay in the game eventually beating her in the 3rd set tie break.  Sands was impressive in Montreal and New Haven but she hasn't been all that impressive overall this year.  Petkovic has some key victories over Kuznetsova Flavia and Dementieva this year.  Sands recently lost to Coco and Petrova, Petkovic recently destroyed Coco and just beat Petrova 2 days ago.  Sometimes match ups are key and Andrea is a bad match up for Bethanie.

SOFIA ARVIDSSON (-120) - - - Dulgheru is just not a good player on this surface.  In her last 20 matches on the surface she only has 6 victories.  Sofia on the other hand is a very good hard court player. She just came of a finals appearance at a hard court ITF even where she defeated  Zack, Strycova, Karbin and Coin to get to the final.  She just ousted Sorana Cirstea easily in the first round and has the confidence winning 5 of her last six all on hard court.  In her last 20 on hc she is has won 14 of them.  Risky bet but worth a wager as the value is with Sweden Sofia.

Since 2005 Roger Federer has swept through the first two rounds of the U.S Open.  Basically in his last 11 opening round U.S Open matches he has beaten his opponents 3 sets to love.  Mardy Fish looks fresh, fit and ready to go.  He has won 7 in a row as a heavy favorite and I see that trend growing for a long time.  Fed and Fish, Fish and Fed.

"Berankis has not been as impressive as most think, there is nothing impressive about this player or his career results."

kind of an ignorant statement: can you name other 1990 players better than him? have you ever seen him play? because at this point i doubt you have. not bashing - don't react badly, but you just threw in a very inaccurate statement to justify your play.

I wouldn't react badly to this at all mate.  This is constructive criticism, this is actually disagreeing with an opinion or statement and that is fine by me.  This is nothing close to what sparty dacocksmith constantly do.  They decide to hate on my lack of posting unit accumulations...that has nothing to do with anything and is very hypocritical considering they never have the balls to post their plays consistently or at all.

You are simply disagreeing with an opinion I have, although I do think you used the word ignorant in the wrong context.  My rebuttal would be that I have seen Berankis play twice, nothing stood out to me.  Pretty plain player.  I stand by my statement about him not being impressive at all in his career.  I mean come on lucash he has only 2 top 100 ranked wins in his entire career.  Melzer has 45 in the last year.  They are just two different classes.  If I lose I still think I had the correct value on this game.  Good luck to you lucash, your opinions are always welcome.

I think the value is with Julia.  She was on fire just recently and winning as a dog consistently.  Wick can easily choke victories away.  Although I like Julia I don't think there is much value on this game.  My advice would be to take Petkovic instead if you can still find her as a dog.  Best of luck BDUBB.

Good post Mak. with you for a half unit or unit risked on Kbond, Petkovic (absurd line IMHO, might increase amount later), and Anderson(only a half unit tailing others).

I am shocked you do not think Julia is worth a play though. If you throw out their head to head, which is easy since Julia improved greatly the last two months, then this line is the underdog steal of the tournament.

I am making a move there.... will post about it shortly. There is another play I might like even more. gl today Mak.

Once again Mak.... who is doing the bashing here?

Sims point about unit tallying is no different from Lucash calling you out on Melzer/Berankis.But I guess in your world they are? Unit tallying is always a good idea for consistant posters such as yourself...especially in a sport such as tennis. Why?  because records can be misleading when you factor chalk plays or big dog plays. It gives posters an idea of how your picks are going and helps validate the insight with the matches. Here are the numbers I am seeing...can you confirm?

My god Sparty, when will this obsession ever end bro just give it a rest already!!  And what are you talking about now?  You posted that TI earnings in my earlier thread and it was -$697 and you bashed me on it.  Now it's +$127 who no love Sparticans? Actually it was at -$1330 just a few weeks ago so not to shabby if I say so myself....and no I don't confirm or validate you bumbling idiot.  T.I dollars don't matter at all you pompous jackass. You can only bet a max of $100 on bets so like I have stated to you before that TI dollar amount you keep obsession about by stalking me on another site is not at all indicative of actual profit gained.

You have taken the time to copy and paste my info from another site, you have taken the time to go on my profile and see my age, so take the time and go back through all my threads and gladly post my unit profit for all to see, I would love it if you did, do that or please just stop posting on my threads.

If anyone is critical or points out anything to you...your only response is name calling. Are you capable of making valid and educated points or is this the extent of your capabilities?

The max is $100?  Once again Mak your info is incorrect...believe your able to make a $200 wager each day ... and you have

Sorry but the numbers don't lie

Sparty angers me cause of his obsession.  dalock angers me cause he has experience on the forums and his first post on the thread was a straight up bash.  You don't mean much bud sorry.  Again if you have ever actually tried tennis insight you would all know it's just monopoly money.  No way does it account for actual wagers or accurate ROI.  Try it and see for yourself before posting nonsense, you and Sparty both.

Once again you are ignoring what I have stated to you.  Please go ahead, visit the past 5 tourney threads I have on covers.  Calculate the unit profit and post it for all of covers to see.  If you won't step up and do that then please stop posting on my threads.  Thanks.
