Well, mainly iTunes.  Why the fuck did they make this so complicated?  I'll admit, I'm not tech-savy at all...but do I really need a masters in physics just to be able to play some goddam songs?

I had all my songs backed up on an external drive.  Just that process alone makes my head spin.  I put the songs into a new file on a new computer.  Then when I downloaded iTunes and try to bring the songs over some get duplicated, triplicated, quadrupli-fuckin-cated, some don't come over at all, some of them I'm not "authorizied" to play.  I mean, wtf??

I don't really WANT to know why the shit isn't working right, I just want it to do what it's supposed to.  I don't really car about all the shit under my car's hood, I just want it to run when I turn the ignition.  That's what these tech-bastards don't get.  I go into the Apple store and I instantly want to go on a killing spree.  All these "genius" tech clowns walking around thinking they know everything when really they haven't the foggiest clue.

Is it just me, or does it seem like technology is evolving faster then we can keep up?  I always feel like when I get someone to help me with someone they have no idea what they're doing and they just fuck it up.  It just seems like a big gimmick to me to get you to buy the most recent piece of shit junk after your other shit has become outdated.  For example, I have an older iPod and nothing even happens when I plug it in to my computer.  Like, why??

I guess it's still better than lugging a bunch of cds around, but really, I think the pioneers of mp3s, music files, etc could have invented a much less complicated system.  It doesn't help that I'm a dummy either.

If you want easy buy your songs from a alternate site without DRM protection. Use a different program to manage your collection.
    PM for the sites

The only way to get around that is "unauthorize" your old machine or export all the tracks to CD and them re-import them which essentially removes the DRM protection.

Amen, that's why I stay away from apple also.  I have my Zune, which doesn't have the sleek looks of Apple stuff.  But it's real sleek in putting any damn song or video on it without me having to jump through hoops.

This isn't a tech problem, it's a Apple pain in the ass problem.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and allowing me to vent.  At the end of the day, I appreciate that it's "on me" to verse myself in the tech language and become knowledgeable if I choose to use a product.  That said, it would have been nice if they had made the whole process much much more user friendly than it is.  I'm not a computer guy, but I shudder at what the older generation must think...they must see this stuff as totally alien.

Here's what I mean by these tech people working at apple:  A few months ago I bought an ipod for my wife at the apple store.  The guy who helped me thought he was sooooo fuckin cool cuz he rang me up on this little portable phone/cash register (pompous dickface, just have a checkout spot like every other store).  So I was asking him some questions, and rather than him clearly identifying that I wasn't computer literate, he chooses to make all his answers hyper-confusing.  One of the things I asked was why apple "limits" the number of machines you can have your itunes on to something like 6 or 7 computers.  I said "the average person these days will most likely own dozens of computers over their lifetimes, what happens when you run out of 'authorizied' machines?  It can't possibly be limited to your 7th machine??"  And he goes "no, there IS a cap, you're only allowed 7 (or whatever the number is)."  I said "that makes no sense, so you're saying once I move itunes to my 7th computer I can no longer have itunes on ANY other computer?"  He says "well, no, you can de-authorize the old ones."  So I said "ok, so then it can be virtually unlimited, as I thought."  And he replies "well, no, theres a cap on the machines."  Jesus.

I just left before I stabbed the guy in his face.

All these music management programs suck, not sure why people use them to be honest.  iTunes on Windows has always sucked.  I came across the equally as bad Zune program with my Windows phone, for whatever reason they decided having the phone act as an external drive with drag and drop capability wasn't needed, let's make them suffer with a management program.  At least they got wise and will have it so you can drag and drop in the next version of their phones.

I use folders and have never had issues, I can drag and drop what I want and don't have to worry about all the dumb sync quirks you encounter in these management programs.

The only thing I do use every so often are programs that can edit mp3's and populate my old mp3's that are missing album title, album art, etc.
