Shouldn't have added yesterday as those were the losses otherwise we'd have started the year sublimely. Either way, losing the BIG PLAY to Inter FH was a shock for me but that's why I played the alternative line. On to today, the real 23rd of August...
Early season is very challenging in all sports, so there wasn't much I liked this AM other than some Dutch games that I just flat out missed. The other 3 games I have my eye on have yet to kick off.
JUVENTUS -1 (-155): High price to pay but Juventus have a lot to prove and I think are capable of winning the title this year. They face newly promoted Frosinone whom they have won the last 4 away H2H's with scoring twice in all of them. They are also unbeaten in 19 of their last 20 Serie A matches against newly promoted sides (W13, D6, L1) and have a strong lineup to begin the campaign.
RENNES +1 (+100) & OVER 1.5 FH (+105): So if you don't know this, PSG have struggled most with Rennes over the last 25 years so this is no walkover. Moreover, both teams have been very good out the gate and Rennes were the top team in the final games of Ligue 1 last year, having also added some firepower after selling off Jacquet to Liverpool for a hefty fee. PSG have NOT been playing well of late and while I know that is preseason, a few of the games were actually meaningful (French Cup loss to Lens being one of them). Rennes can score and no Nundo Mendes for PSG will hurt a bit. I usually find that teams that have made as many changes to their squad as PSG have take a few weeks to gel. Not worried about PSG, but I am a bit worried about them today.
BARCELONA FH (-145)...BIG PLAY!!!: Gonna drop the coin here and back a Barcelona team that largely comprised the Spanish team that won the World Cup. They have lost just one of 20 when traveling to the Elche part of the country and have won their last 10 season opening matches. They also have owned Elche winning the last 10 H2H's and the last five at Elche. I think both teams get on the scoresheet here but I think Barcelona does enough to win the FH and that's where my money will be.
That's about all I have for today. Hoping everyone is having a nice weekend. As always, tail or fade good luck to all...
