Sad but true.  Same old story I've been hearing from commentators the past 30 years since I was a teen watching USA in the world cup, "There's a lot to take away from this World Cup and USA soccer is on the ascent, blah blah."  Men's soccer will never be competitive for a World Cup trophy. It's not our sport and our best athletes don't play it in youth development leagues.
