long story short. met a bookie irl 4 weeks ago through an industry event. (industry not related to wagering at all). its legal to wager here and we have sportsbooks so bookies arent really big or needed here. there are people that needs bookie and i had to facilitate a good friend through him because he doesnt have valid ID to get verified with sportsbooks. Just seen good friend this morning and hes been placing wagers $500-2000 roughly with bookie. he wanted to drop a 5k 5-leg parlay and odds are high. i msged bookie because he wasnt reponding back to good friend. he just msged me right now saying hes out of country but told me personally to take his 5k parlay. he insisted "parlays never hit with all the wagers he seen through his book. only straights. high odds parlays 1 in 30 chance, even worse" he said i must be naive not to take his 5k. its a free 5k. i didnt take the bet.

all i do is parlays now. already down bad with player props in general. im just wondering if i should cancel parlays and only do straights now

 idk it was between hali or siakam both had off game 5s but i think siakam bounces back as a vet compared to hali. don’t know if knicks really figured hali apparently

 sir, i have been shopping for the last few hours but only found +125 (thescorebet). what book did you get +130, online book or local?

down 1.5-1.8k roughly in this series alone. 5-6k on clippers futures. still up 1.3k overall with series bets and individual parlays with knicks, pacers and wolves winning. 

this is where i chase and crashout. dropped the 1.3k on leafs ML +125 thescorebet. godspeed.

 oh and to answer bators question:

• Since the modern 2-2-1-1-1 format became standard in the 1980s for the NHL (and consistent post-2000s), teams that win Games 1 and 2 at home go on to win the series over 85% of the time.

• The specific path of winning Games 1 and 2, but losing Games 5 and 7 at home is extremely rare — single-digit percentage.

One of the few notable times this happened:

• 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs, 1st Round:
  Toronto vs. Boston —
  Boston won Games 1 & 2 at home
  Lost Game 5 at home
  Barely won Game 7 after trailing 4-1 late in the 3rd — so not exactly your scenario, but close in spirit.

Another very close one:

• 2009 Capitals vs. Rangers: Caps lost Games 1 & 2 at home, then forced Game 7 and won. Again, inverse of your scenario.

Statistically, if a team wins Games 1 & 2 at home, the chances of:

• Losing both Games 5 & 7 at home, and

• Losing the series

…are probably under 5%, if not closer to 1-2% historically.
