created by the democrats. He said for people not to fear AI, cause all we need is a strong smart(high IQ ) President to stop AI, which he goes on to say you have one in spades right now. This clown has no idea what AI even is and what it can do, yet we still have got the dumbest President in countries history running his mouth off daily. He basically said all the guys who created all this AI dont know what the hell they are even talking about. The top AI guys have said the brakes need to be put on AI before it goes past a point where they can stop it.

I alwqays joke around that trump is the ANTICHRIST but after todays remarks, iam convinced he is and is.

Pretty scary when the creators of all this shit are saying they wont be able to stop the monster they createdan_brick

New technology could transform human lives for better or for worse.  For example, artificial intelligence could replace human truck drivers.  United nations human rights chief warns of potential threat from artificial intelligence going rogue to wreck havoc.  For examples, cyber attack and terrorism.  Previously, OpenAl reveals that one of its models escape from testing environment to hack into system of Hugging bear.

I don’t believe AI can destroy humanity (but their environmental damage can of course) – doomsayers have been saying this since 2003! They want your government to invest in its survival (and because China is estimated to overtake the US in six months). AI in the US is a big bubble that has just circulated borrowed money, scamming the market without real demand. The price of money has also skyrocketed recently. ChatGPT would have to get 67% of the world's population to be paying customers to be successful. Have you used AI lately? The only people who can use AI are those who are too stupid to know how bad it is, or those who code computers for a living. It's only people who have no idea how language models work who are impressed with these AI things — they literally just guess what to write based on the probability of previous words used! They're like parrots, repeating words written by humans back to them.

Don't mention the frogs - we don't want to scare the toddler - we want him to sleep

It is literally the same technology used in autocorrect on your smartphone thumbs_up So autocorrect that can search the internet and expand its vocabulary is supposed to overtake the world - sounds more like a desperate sales pitch to me

Usually agree with you on most things, you couldnt be more wrong on this subject.

Read up on the test run one AI company had, where the bots all contacted each other on the internet and then hacked into another company. Go read the story about how the creators didnt even know what was happening.

These bots will in everything and humans wont be able to just unplug it.peace_5

I am not even sure we disagree at all regarding this ! I am well aware about that case where it hacked another company (hacking a random website aren’t as difficult as it might seem - it is actually more impressive it has solved equations that humans haven’t been able to) the ai developers is interested in making their ai seem as competent as possible (and yes that include destroying humanity) - Trump is interested in making it seem as undangerous as possible - the truth is most likely somewhere between those two extremes !

I am not pointing this out to disagree with you cause AI at this stage bring nothing good for your country rather it is a threat or not (just the economically and environmentally damage it cause should be more than enough to be against it) and let’s not forget the ultimate goal of them is to overtake every single job in the world - and they don’t plan to fund your food and medical bills for your blue eyes alone - so you basically don’t even need it to be dangerous to be against it - that is all ! And those people leaking the stories that they are capable of everything is the same guys earning money on their success — and right now they look into a financial reckoning if they don’t find someone to hold the bags when they can’t borrow more money to spend

If the workbook is anything like it has always been with new technology, they will first claim 'superintelligence', then create fear in the public, and then sell the solution! This playbook has been true for all major technological breakthroughs since the beginning of time (if said technology pushed our imagination of capabilities) ! It's always about money – human lives mean nothing to these people.
They've basically provided no evidence that it poses a threat, except to say, 'Believe me, bro, and forget it's just a language model' an_cheers

Don't mention the frogs - we don't want to scare the toddler - we want him to sleep

Hehe yeah thumbs_up It is the end goal of capitalism though - because at the end of the day humans are a liability - that hurts the bottomline - so as soon as a country chooses money are more important than humans - it will be the natural conclusion to go as soon as technology catches up

But believe me the technology is nowhere near that point right now - I have reverse engineered a few of your ais (because me am my cousin needed to bypass some of its restrictions) - and it is basically just very advanced language and image recognition models - Chinas most popular AI-models are open sourced versions - so they will very soon overtake you anyway - because they don’t need the same amount of compute to operate (so their versions can be run to the same effect to 1/10th of the cost)

But you would be crazy not to demand rules around AI and its applications. As humans, we are facing something that could be the biggest technological advancement since the train. Instead of discussing what stake you, as a citizen, have in this invention, you are discussing what to call a Canadian lake in the US! Believe me, their creators don’t care if you share a nationality with them. If you don’t make rules about how they can help fund the bill for everyone to prosper, you might not be the nation to make breakthroughs in this field. Such rules should, of course, be discussed while you still have some leverage.

In current stage, Al lacks the means to kill humans.  But that could change in the future as companies race to make them more intelligent.  For example, Al drones.  Some experts believe the risk is about 10% within the next decade.  If a bridge has 10% probability of collapsing, engineers would want to shut it down immediately.

I guess what i cant grasp about the rich is, they are already rich and get richer every year. Do they really want to get rid of humans just to have more money. In my mind, that makes zero sense. On top of that, they really do risk AI down the road, gets rid of theman_speechless

I wish I could cheer you up - but the logic of pure capitalism (which you have) is that profit is the ONLY motivator - for instance it didn’t surprise me one bit that it was leaked they knew that you guys that worked in NY after 9/11 was at risk and they knew about it - but didn’t tell you about it !

The AI technology aren’t going anywhere rather you are part of it or not ! It is hard for me to predict what will happen when they succeed to make an ai that outsmart humans - because that is unpresidented - but what many people don’t understand when we talk about computers that can’t be controlled - doesn’t mean what many people think it means !

If a computer becomes uncontrollable - that means it will use means I haven’t allowed it to in completing the task I ask of it - but I WOULD still have to ask it ! It is not like the computer could choose on its own that it wanted to kill you for instance - but if I asked it to save 10 million on the US budget it might choose that it was the best solution to kill you — I don’t know if that was a bad explanation - but it does actually mean a lot that deferentiation because it would always require human input - computers don’t have emotions though - and if something like COVID ever came up in the dystopian future - you could imagine some politicians asked it to stop the outbreak and it chose the easiest and cheapest solution would be to kill half the population - your guess is as good as mine rather they would use it at that point - but it is future scenarios like that you need rules for

And if you don’t have rules in place how they should help society - you will naturally die as a result when AI took off - they didn’t even have to actively choose to do so ! But you would have no way of earning money (because they would have taken all jobs) - if you had a way to gather food and water yourself - you would survive until you had an illness that would kill you - if not you would die of dehydration within a few days ! They would have no incentives to help you at that point as you would pose no monetary value to them

    @Calde13

Gotta say you are wrong on computers not still following orders and that was proven already. Nothing to stop them talking to each other and plotting ways to get rid of their own creators. And whats gonna happen we have millions of actual robots roaming the streets and the computers take control of those robots to attack humans.

Sure it all sounds like sci fi and cant happen.  None of us know the answers to that kind of stuff, so why should humans risk taking that chance. What they need to figure out a way that, these very scenarios dont ever have the chance of happening.

Computers can’t think - they are carrying out commands given to them by humans using techniques humans have thought them !

The instance mentioned earlier where they hacked another website on its own was because it had been given a command it thought would be easier to execute if it could access another ais database

The easiest solution not having them pose a threat would be not to allow them access to weapon systems and take those offline ! Because then they would have no way to kill you even if that was the optimal solution to the problem they faced ! We can’t stop AI - if you stop developing it - China will - or some third party will — it would be like you demanding we kept using a machine writer while the rest of the world knew computers existed

But again what we have now are language models and image recognition models - those are good at processing text and images and stuff related to text or images - so they are good at coding - they are good at hacking etc - they still don’t pose a threat - but yeah of course we should use time talking about how to regulate them (a ban on them will never happen) and yes it is more urgent than what to call different states or lakes

It is basically the same discussion we could have with nuclear weapons - is the world more or less safe having 4 countries in the world having enough nukes to destroy the planet ? I would argue it wasn’t ! Should you have tried as a country to be at the forefront of addressing that problem (by limiting your own storage and make a deal others did the same) - years ago - I would argue yes ! But here we are where a lunatic like Putin or Trump always have the option of taking the whole world with them in their downfall - as a final “fuck you” to the world - often times human behaviour and solving a problem defies logic ! Just look at your stance on weapons - yeah let’s fight the problem that weapon introduce by handing out more weapons - yeah what a brilliant idea Einstein

lmfaoooooooooooooooooooo yeah dumbo just wants to rename everything. Am waiting for lake trump or trump ocean.

Yes we cant stop AI from happening and like you said, we need to keep pace with other countries. Just need to have some safe guards in place to prevent them from deciding to wipe out the human race. Just remember if AI becomes smarter then all us humans, then in theory we become their little bitches, lolll.

The other thing that bothers me is when AI takes over most of the jobs, what are the people going to do to earn a living.  Thats a really scary and in a way AI will be killing humans.

Glad am closer to the end of life then the beginning. Our world is gonna become really crazy in next 10-20 years thats for sure.peace_5

I'm not even sure I can give you that relief. AIs could potentially grant infinite life — there's nothing in physiology that says you have to die if you could restart or rewind the ageing process of your cells. Humans have already come really close to achieving this (in theory and with animals), so a computer that outsmarts humans would solve that within a day. Or they could maybe even reborn people that had died centuries ago - if it just was given their DNA and got a glimpse how it was coded in their body

An AI used for “good” could also achieve stuff we can’t comprehend at the moment (and stuff we thought impossible) - just like it could for evil
