Don't you wish you could change your position on advocating for amnesty? Buh-bye!!!

Let's see how many more amnesty traitors we can get rid of.

Stay disciplined and manage your bankroll

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was defeated Tuesday...by Dave Brat, a political novice with little money..

Cantor is the second-most powerful member of the U.S. House and was seen by some as a possible successor to the House speaker.

This marks a huge victory for the TEA party movement...

I believe it's more of a reflection on how people feel about Congress than a single issue. A recent poll showed 62% of Americans want someone new for their congressional districts. Overall, only 5% of voters believe most members of the Congress are doing a good enough job to deserve re-election.

Overall I am very happy to see this. Cantor is a mega tool who pandered to the tea party crazies that just sent him packing. He was hardly a moderate but thought he was smart enough to use the tea party energy for his own cause.

The thing I actually feel sorry for the GOP on is that they can't win national elections pretty soon with their positions. Even if they want to change, their base won't allow it. They just can't or else they lose like this. Dan or anyone else you really think being against "amnesty" will win any elections in swing states in anything other then a GOP Primary? Good luck selling that in Florida, Nevada and Colorado and still getting 270 electoral votes. Every year the country becomes more diverse and yet the GOP either refuses to can't change. Is something like a 300 electoral vote beatdown what is needed to help?

The way this district is drawn it will be GOP held so this guy is the next Congressmen of the district.

The way this district is drawn it will be GOP held so this guy is the next Congressmen of the district.

sucks for cantor.  where else can you find a job where you show up to work about a third of the year, work consists of talking garbage about other people without ever having to come up with an idea of your own and you make a nice salary by sticking your hand out and having someone put a bunch of taxpayer money in it.

I don't think you need to be for amnesty to win a national election. When it comes down to it, in national polls illegal immigration is not close to being a top issue for voters. Romney didn't get crushed because he wasn't for amnesty. Bush didn't run on an amnesty platform yet won. It can be done with a good candidate. On the immigration issue the Republican nominee should take a no amnesty, secure the border, enforce the law, and make legalization easier stance. On deportation, say deport all those with criminal records but allow some type of legalization for those here now that have not committed another crime. It can be done in a tough but fair way that most people should be able to accept. Well, at least those on the right and independents te left will cry unless full amnesty and voting rights.

In my above post I'll clarify the no amnesty but legalization comment. By no amnesty, I mean no path to citizenship and no voting rights, ever. Legalization will allow someone to stay here and be a contributing member of society and provide for their family. No welfare of any kind.

So how are the TP jokers any different?

I seem to recall them promising to fight to the end on the budget and deficit issues last year only to fold like the corporate slime balls they are.

So tell me how one group of politicians are any better than another given that corps and private interests own ALL politicians and government?

I see all this hoopla got SS back posting..how interesting.

The problem with your points is that I don't see that happening in a GOP primary. Can you imagine someone saying what you said? His opponents would be saying that he was for "amnesty". Good luck not being perceived as an behind-hole on the issue come general election time.

I'm glad that you mentioned that Bush was for "amnesty" and still won. Bush had a 77% white electorate where he won 58/41. Romney had about the same margin with whites with 59/39 and lost. Why you wonder? Whites were only 72% of the electorate in 2012. In 2016 and going forward that is only going to drop. It doesn't take advanced stats to see the trend and know that the GOP has to adapt. If their only hope is for an economic collapse or scandal (no Benghazi does not count) for a win, good luck with that strategy.

I think this is probably the worst idea. No amnesty is one thing but it's absolutely a horrible idea to create 2 different classes of "people". That's just asking for troubles....

Moreover. I don't think it will pass the Constitutional test. After all, you are asking for "Taxation without representation" for some forever unless we can get an amendment in which it's impossible imo.

They could be a legal resident but not a citizen. I think that is what Dan is saying here and I think it is quite possible.

    I am confused

Cantor was instrumental in the election of many of the Tea Party-backed candidates who handed Republicans their House majority in 2010.
