Kickin A--I think your response in post 15 was reasonable. As far as morality, isn't the argument against illegal immigrants the cost? Aren't we as a society a melting pot that is for immigration but concerned about the cost to the taxpayer?
If you conceed that their is no financial harm, where is the morality issue?

Mandated as in prevention from deportation by State or Federal law..i.e. the law does not mandate that illegals remain in high school. I did think you were brighter than this, but reading this and the next post, I guess not.
Of course the law requires graduation from high school to determine residency. Yet again, please provide me one link in the bill that prevents deportation. Provide me one link or evidence as to who is harmed. I so look forward to that because you have done an amazing job of proving the bill requires a high school graduation, nothing that was ever in dispute.
read your post #98 there dj
you specifically said the law does not refer to high school
sorry to knock you off your high horse smarty pants
time to come down and debate with us lowly commoners I guess

This country stopped being a melting pot many, many years ago

Sorry about your inferiority complex. I've never perceived that you had trouble mixing it up, dispite your lack of an Ivy league education.
My post always referred to the fact that the law says nothing about the states obligation to school illegals up to the collegiate level. It does mandate that the state standards for determining lower tuition is based on residency, thus a resident cannot be denied in-state tuition based on immigration status.
But if your way of conceeding that there is no harm in the law is by debating semantics, I will let you do so. I would hear someone tell me the harm in the law.

Isn't the concern with illegal immigration the weight on the taxpayer and crime. Statistically, one in college is less likely to be involved in criminal activity and more likely to become a taxpaying productive citizen. So, again, I am interested in knowing the harm here. Isn't in-state tuition simply an investment by the school and state? Why is the investment different for an illegal?
My concern with illegal immigration is that it is ....ummmm it's illegal to be here illegally...................
but whats the harm in a few broken laws.............................

those are existing jobs, not jobs created by a piece of sheep skin but this is getting off topic
Really? So the employment of college educated people which is about 6% lower than the national average doesn't, in and of itself, by the mere employment, create more jobs by the expenditures of those employed, creating a cyclical effect of national employment? You better contact the Bureau of Labor Statistics and let them know.

Let me guess. When someone asks about your nationality or discent, you simply say American. Before we get in your Ford Pickup truck and go by your new pair of Wrangler jeans.

In order to fully understand the law you have to debate the semantics.....to be eligible for in state tuition you have to be a resident and to be a resident you have to meet certain criteria which is what you said wasnt in the law and I pointed out that it indeed was.

I do say I am American....I was born here by parents who were born here.....it was my great grandparents who were born in Scotland and immigrated to this country LEGALLY but that point is lost on you

To many, and likely most taxpayers, the cost would prioritize their views. Thus they'd agree. However my views differ. I'd rather weather the storm at all cost in favor of achieving the morally right objective despite knowing that I am of the minority opinion on this.
And I cannot conceed that there is no financial harm involved in this. I'm sure there are stats out there that will back up each other's claims. I like to believe the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Even then and there, I believe financial ramifications would be present, even at the slightest amount.

its simple to follow so what's the debate?
Nice try. My point AGAIN was that the law does nothing about mandating the State regarding the education of illegals in high school as they do for collegiate expenses.
Perhaps after you have saluted the flag and looked down upon some stinky foreigners to raise your self-esteem, you can finally answer who is harmed by the bill.
In the meantime, I have my Literacy Advancement Committee meeting for the Indigent to attend. There will be illegals there. I will send them your best. I will look for your answer when I return.

any law abiding citizen who believes in the principle of things?
how do you not understand this?
I fucking digress........................................"debating" with you is pointless if you cant comprehend the above?
I do get it. You are harmed by illegals attending college in CA because you have worked hard all your life so that some darker skinned person in CA who is seeking a better life and willing to pay the the same cost as a person in CA doesn't have the same opportunity.
I understand. How on earth can you better your low self-esteem and look down upon that non-American if they are <gasp> college graduates.

The law doesn't refer to high school nor does it prevent deportation
Thats your quote from post #98....
The law does refer to the fact that you have to have attended a Ca high school for 3 years
If you wanted to say that the law doesnt mandate that the state educate illegals then you should state that bc saying the law has nothing to do with high school is flat out wrong

Illegal immigration to the United States refers to the act of foreign nationals violating U.S. immigration policies and national laws by entering or remaining in the United States without proper permission from the United States government

when did this turn into a racial debate based on color?
I dont care if they are white as a snowflake and came from any country on this earth...the fact is and the laws are it is ILLEGAL.....principles dj....try to find some
If a person wants the laws of this country upheld, including the immigration laws, I guess its easy for you to play the race card and slander someone....so typical a response for someone who cannot get his nose out of a book long enough to understand the world around him.
Some laws are good, some are flawed.....you dont seem to be able to an independent thought on which ones are which.
But again, I digress....when you resort to insinuating that I am a racist while debating immigration you lose all credibility with me.
and that is not crying as you like to say...its just another fact that I am pointing out to you..

If the purpose of in-state tuition is investment in the student, please explain to me the distinction between an illegal and one who is not in terms of the future benefit to state and citizenry.
Simply saying one is an illegal doesn't answer the question.
Being an illegal is actually the entire debate and should answer your question
It is illegal for student X to be here illegally.....its a federal law for Christ sake
any debate about their contributions after they graduate college are both hypothtical and moot
If you want to discuss amnesty or a path to citizenship so they are not illegal then that is a different matter all together
There are no grey areas in someone being illegal...they broke the law, it is a crime

illegal is illegal.....how can you be here illegally and yet enrolled in school..if you are illegal then you should be dealt with according to the law? no?...
guess a different moniker is needed...

insanity....how would you explain that to a fifth grader?....
