I'm terribly sorry to hear that. I had major open heart surgery Dec 3. Aortic valve replacement and a new tricuspid valve. I'm glad I have it now and not a month ago. I don't deny the reality of covid but I do feel like we can't hide forever and the media and govt is manipulating the masses.

My sister had the first variant before vaccines. She was 50 and has Asthma. Loss of smell but not taste and lethargy. It's a crap shoot. Nobody super close to be has passed but I know people through people who have. The people who are closest to me who have had it, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, have not had a tough go of it, thankfully. My sister who had it got vaccinated. My other sister, both of her young adult kids have had it. None are vaccinated. They both seem to be doing just fine. There is no one right answer. You all can stop bickering amongst yourselves and pushing your agenda on others. There is no right answer.

@Thirtythree That’s not what I’ve noticed. People vaccinated at work who have tested positive have returned saying it was like flu or cold but fully recovered. This is my 2nd bout with covid. First time before my heart surgery I also lost taste and smell and it took like several months to come back. Like I stated before I don't deny the reality of this shit I just refuse to be forced to take a vaccine when I'd rather take my chances with my own immune system. Everyone is different though and everyone should be able to chose for themselves

If I had heart surgery, I'd be especially apprehensive about the vaccine too. If I was a professional athlete, I would be apprehensive. And frankly, if anybody is apprehensive, given that this form of therapy is very new and unproven in the long run, it should be their right to abstain. It should also be an employer's right to set the parameters of conduct and conditions of employment within their respective companies. There's no right answer. It's a complex, multifaceted issue but arguing about it in a football forum, saying the same things over and over again every day, does dick to figure it out.

Michigan State University mandated all students and faculty be vaccinated last fall. So why is the university using only remote learning right now?? Too dangerous for the vaccinated to go to class???? Oh, by the way, Spartan basketball home games are sold out every night they play this month.

Disagree here Stu. I worked in a field that had possible Hep-C exposer, vax never was mandated, always a choice. Since July the vaccinated are more likely to be asymptomatic and spread covid unknowingly and according to the CDC the vaccinated are less likely to get tested for covid. In August Fauci says viral load the same in vaccinated when infected. What sense does it make for an employer to mandate with this evidence? It doesn't make sense.

Pope Francis urges people to get vaccinated as a civic duty to society. Even with milder omicron variant, hospitals are overwhelmed. For a more contagious virus, vaccination rate of population needs to be higher to reduce burden on healthcare system. Hospitals and nursing homes mandate vaccination to protect patients and healthcare workers against severe illness. Especially those at higher risk such as the unvaccinated and immune compromised. According to Kaiser family foundation study, hundreds of thousands of covid hospitalizations could have prevented by vaccines in the US. Historically, achieving high vaccination rates are almost impossible without mandates.
