Habs: lost to leafs in a must win? lost to isles in a must win playoffs: Outshot? outplayed? outcoached!
That was a goal; plain and simple...a goal like that should not be called back on a scenario like that..For example mtl's reviewed goal..where he was pushing the goalie once he had the puck.
Knuble barley touched halak, and was pushed by gill..im sorry!
with or without money! that is a goal

The better team did not prevail:

Watch the replay again, Knuble hits Halak's skate causing him to fall on his ass. When the fuck does a goalie fall down like that especially one that is in the zone like him? He touched Halak right where the puck was going preventing him from making his full movement.
And why all this talk about this play where Gill apparently "pushed" Knuble when Lappiere was clearly pushed into Varlamov that caused a disallowed goal.

I wish I followed hockey...Those lines were ridiculous. +200 and + 300 on some of those montreal wins. Wish I did because capping hockey if you follow it seems a lot easier then capping MLB/Basketball. I miss football!!! :) (full week to cap is lovely)
But damn - crazy game. Watched that call on sportscenter...this is like lebron getting kicked out in first round. Without Ovechkin - NHL ratings will suffer :(
Damn those lines seemed like bets to take with how that goalkeeper was rocking it. 137 saves out of 140 was it?

That's what really just makes your stomach turn. This Habs team should not have been anywhere NEAR the @$@ play-offs. But of course, as is par for the course in the NHL play-offs, a shitty fucking team suddenly rides a hot goaltender, and buoyed by such, actually decides to play some defense as a result, gets pretty much all the IMPORTANT bounces (and a lot of calls - ya ya, STFU if you're going to make the usual bdee bdee bdeee "but the Caps got lots of calls blah blah blah" bullshit - the point is, the Caps did NOT get the calls during the most crucial times of the series - case in point: after watching the replay of that disallowed goal tonight, many times now, that absolutely mind-numbingly fuck-you-Caps call by that asshat zebra just becomes more despicable every time I view it)
I hope that Pitt absolutely destroys the Habs - or wait, I mean the Montreal Halaks. But I digress....
That said, I will also add it was beyond nauseating to watch Mike "I just got my first pair of skates yesterday" Green and Alexander "I shoot puck 10,000 times but ees no even hit side of Siberian barn - wat eees dees, ya?' Semin play. Green and Semin were the epitome of bush-league/house-league 'superstars' and I woud've benched both those assholes forthwith as they were more a detriment (especially Green) to the overall effort, rather than providing any sort of positive aspect to the game(s).
In conclusion, the Caps should have finished this series in Game 5 but they played like it was a done deal already -both in Game 5 and 6 - despite and notwithstanding the fact Halak stood on his head. Such is the way of the play-offs, though, and the better team is bested by a host of improbable circumstances.
As another poster mentioned (Getty I believe) it's truly a shame that a dynamic, exciting team like the Caps gets bounced in the first round. I would rather watch up-tempo hockey any day of the week vs a team that is simply relying on its goaltender.
My two cents.

exactly only ppl complaining here, watch the highlights, only!!
if you watched the entire series, you know the caps were handed many many more calls than the habs.
i was shocked the habs actually got a borderline call tonight, they havent got one all series long.
caps were lucky to even be in position to win the series with a game 7. habs should have closed them out sooner.
that's a crock of shit - as I mentioned, it's not how many calls you get it's the TIMING of those calls. The Caps got shafted a number of times at the most inopportune times. It's akin to a goalie letting in a shit-load of goals but then making that all important save at the CRUCIAL time. So please kindly save the Caps got all the calls b.s. I believe it's called Homer-ism 101.
P.s. although I despise the Habs ( yes, refer to previous posts) I don't really give a shit about the Caps either way but, as stated, I would rather watch an up-tempo, dynamic team with one of - if not THE - most exciting players in the league, than watching a slug-fest where a team relies on its goaltender and takes a grand total of 11 shots.

Good call or not, today there are a lot of bookies calling for a menage a trois instead of their usual single escort. But it's always nice to see the big underdog win, especially a Canadian team. Keep fading them, boys, and watch your bankroll disappear.

Please let's disect this series by every single call I can guarantee you the Habs were shafted more. What a ludacris comment.
You are aboslutley right about TIMING of the calls. Had this call been made in game 2 when it should have been called, this series would never have made it to game 7 and Habs would have won it in 5 or 6.
Please, try and prove to me how a player can shove a goalie out of his crease when he is unimpeded in the process, not any contact with an opposition player, and have NO penalty called against him.

For your information I didn't bet on the game and even if I did I am first and foremost a fan of the game - you see, other than Hab's fans, if you are a fan of the game I guarantee you would rather watch a guy like OV and Backstrom work their magic in the playoffs than watching a shitty Habs team that takes a grand total of 11 shots and simply relies on its goaltender. Yah, great fucking action and exciting hockey! can't wait for their next display of dynamic prowess

it was the right call. the better team won. the caps had every opportunity, hell they had a power play the last two minutes as well. they never should have won game 2 either.
the caps were going nowhere, better they are out now. horrible coaching, choking stars, horrible defense. they are not made to play in the playoffs.

What does game 2 have to fucking do with the penultimate importance of ANY call in a Game 7? Get a grip, you Homer. A call in game two means absolutely nothing in the context of the entire series as either team can bounce back from it quite easily. Talk about ludicrous, indeed (your 'ludicrous' analysis is about as good as your spelling of it)

Sorry I have had some drinks so my spelling is not up to par. I always enjoy the attacks on grammar to divert attention away from the real matter at hand though. Nice one!
Why would a call be different in game 2 than game 7? If anything the refs are more strict in their rulings. If the TSN panel judges that the correct call was made obviously I will take their opinion over that of some random bum, no?
You were the one that said the Caps got hosed at all the critical moments? So please, let's go. I am ready. Prove me wrong. Is "all the opprtune moments" based off of one call? Or are you including when the 1-33 PP of the best PP in the league had a 6-4 advantage for the last 1:44 of the game and still could not manage one real scoring chance on Montreal?

If you watch the video closely, you will see that because of Knuble's positioning (followed by hitting Halak's skate with his own), that there was a delay in Halak being able to kick his right pad out.
The rule states that if a goalie is interfered with (prevents him from making a save) from an opposing player either by POSITIONING OR CONTACT, then the goal is to be disallowed. Clearly Halak couldn't get his pad out as quick as he wanted to.
Bye bye Caps.
Poor Quasi will have to watch the shitty Habs a little longer.
C'est la vie. Calls go your way, calls go against you, in the end, it ALL EVENS OUT.

So why the fuck is this kid bitching about watching piss poor hockey when his Bruins are still in the playoffs? That team's whole strategy is to lull the opponent to sleep and then attack.

I can't disagree with anything here, although i found the series quite entertaining compared to most regular season games i've seen. And i wouldn't be surprised if the Pens-Habs equals it in that department. Chicago vs Vancouver should be no snorefest either, though i have my doubts about the other two series.

That was quite a one-sided slanted viewpoint. As someone said:
"the pens are the real # 1 seed in the east they coasted most of the year and they didnt have atl, t.b, car, and fla in their division wow it looks to me like wash was not really a #1 more of a joke if you ask me congratulations hab fans you definitely deserved it"
It has also been argued that the Habs final regular season points total is not really indicative of their worth. What other team, except perhaps the Wings, was as decimated by injuries?
As for defence, i'm sure you've heard the saying that defence wins championships. Or, in this case, a series.
