The secret to betting/capping success? Being selective. Home in on one play you've been studying for days, weeks, or even an entire year (as is the case here) and make it when the time is right, and better, when you get the right line.

Well, I'm striking while the iron is hot with this one.

I can tell you this, I don't have the writing chops to elucidate exactly why I am making this pick. And if I don't have a large, sound write-up, there is no point in writing a few blurbs for others to attack. I can write forever about the NBA and NFL but not the NHL. I of course can write something but really, do you care? The pick is all many are interested in.

I can tell you, after a year of studying the one team I've followed my entire life, the New York Rangers, the time is right to make this bet and it's at the perfect price.

Last year I posted that the Rangers had no shot at beating the Kings in the Finals. Yes, the series price was Kings -165, but it was better than Floyd over Manny and with that disparity, -165 was a bargain. The Kings embarrassed them.

This year it's the Rangers vs. the Capitals and the Rangers are down 2-1 and here is the pick:

RANGERS +150 for the series 

It's very simple: Win tomorrow and regain home ice.

Here is what the Capitals had to say about their crucial Game 3 win:

“I think we were lucky tonight,” center Nicklas Backstrom said. “We didn’t play our best hockey tonight, but we got away with a win anyway. That’s obviously nice, and we’ll take it any day.”

Not exactly brimming with confidence...Why? He's 100% correct in his assertion they got lucky. But that Game 3 win is just what the doctor ordered for this bet as the odds have now swung to a sweet +150.

I cannot pass that up in any/way/shape form.

Again, I study one team all year and make one post in this forum which is almost always during the playoffs. 

Last year, there was more than a few pretentious posters in this forum somehow guarding this place like it's their 'turf'. I see the same posters here this year.

Turf or no turf, pretentiousness or humility...none of it matters.

Game 6 or 7, the Rangers will not lose this series. Do with info as you'd like.

Yes hockey.

And it always involves the Rangers.

And last year, I was dead on. It was a bloodbath in the Finals.

This year, the Rangers will be the ones coming out on top in this series.

Scal......Nice to see you here in Hockey...just been in here for the Playoffs.....I initially bet the Rangers b4 the series but I hedged my bet and got in on the Caps.....I really like the way the Caps are stepping up and getting the bounces.....Ove seems to be playing a lot freer in this series and is the best player on the ice......but I like the bet +150.....I just don't see the Rangers offense all of a sudden starting to step up.....St Louis needs to start scoring goals......

I just can't see them going down 3-1 in this series. Look at the way the one goal in game 3 was scored. I say they take Game 4 and if they do, home ice is theirs once again and the all the pressure goes back on the Caps and the odds skyrocket back in the Rangers favor! +150 will be gone like a fart in the wind. The time is right.

They are -105 for Game 4 and  at worst, at the absolute worst this series will be 3-2 Caps as they Rangers will not end this season at MSG and the Caps better come out firing on all cylinders for Game 6 (like the Spurs should have) or else! And this Caps team is not the Spurs of the Nba! Not even close! Which means game 7 at MSG. They aren't going down in that spot!

And in the playoffs, in MSG, home ice is where the Rangers will get absolutely rabid support as these series wears on, in a city starved for another Championship, their first since 1994.

I already have Rags on a Series Parlay with the Ducks, but I think it's imperative they win Game 4 in Washington tomorrow to regain momentum as much as Home Ice. Ovey's playing at another level right now, as is Holtbeast. If the Rags don't shut down Ovey, and get past Holtby for a win tomorrow, I think their Series chances are next to nothing.

With that being said, I think the Rangers step it up a notch and have to come out fast and physical and score at least 1 goal in the 1st. Another low scoring game means Holtbeast is still standing on his head, therefor favoring the Caps. I look for Rangers to win this game 3-2 or 4-2.

Why are you so certain that Caps cant and wouldn't win game 5?
